With tongue shorter and /or not lacing top eyelet, much easier to get proper kneebend during stride.

Seeing this makes me think… What is the actual purpose of the giant tongue? Why don’t they just make them with a tongue that comes up just above the laces?

When I was a teen I heard that Curt Giles didn’t lace up his skates. Thought I’d try it just to see. Actually will help to build up ankle strength, but the boot has to be a snug fit. So I’d skate that way warming up, but then tie tight when playing.
