Idc that this is to clear cap this is horrid. This guy is older than krav and much worse with far less potential. If we have a team krav for salary retention then ok even that might be steep. Canuck fan here, Lockwood is an ahl player with his peak being a 4th liner in the NHL, he’s a physical player who can create some energy but he lacks any sense of offensive prowess at the NHL level. At his peak he may become a 10-10 guy who loves to throw his weight around but at this point I’d say it’s less than likely it would happen.
This makes me worried what we’re giving up for Kane. Expected not Othman or Jones. Just krav a 2nd and the a 3rd to someone else

Underwhelming return for a player who consistently underwhelmed.
The league keeps showing us what Kravtsov was worth. He was a reach when we picked him and he’s done nothing to justify that.
Teams are worried that he’s headed back to Russia after this year. I’m sad it didn’t work out because he has potential but he’s 23, almost five years removed from his draft and has very little to show for it.

Lockwood is basically a Motte 2.0, small frame but skates hard, throws his weight around and isn’t scared to play a really tough game. As a Nucks fan I actually like the guy a lot and I always saw a bit of potential there.
Hope he can provide energy on the 4th line, in the event of injuries, when you guys go on your deep playoff run.
Personally not a fan of throwing away another top pick of ours who also happens to be the only other RW with potential we even have outside of Kakko. Literally who is playing the RW next year and how do we even improve it outside of just re-upping every deadline?
If you wanna say Kravtsov is worthless, then draft better instead of flopping on guys like him and Lias.

Obviously a move to make room for Kane….Darren Dreger also alluded that there is some concern over Kravtsov possibly going back to the KHL. So can’t say I’m shocked at the low return, but a little bummed out about it.
Kane aside it’s a sad organizational failure with how we handled Kratzov. There are going to be a bunch of people saying that this is 100% Kratzov’s fault and no blood on NYR hands. I disagree. Kratzov could have handled this better initially but who am I going to be more disappointed in? A 20 something year old hockey player or an original 6 franchise who has a poor history drafting, developing and retaining their own talent. This isn’t the first young player who demanded their way out of the organization.
If I’m an NHL player I don’t want to be drafted by the Rangers. I’ll force my way there via trade/FA later in my career when I’m more established in career.

Hawks fans are going to be mad as shit with their return for Kane if they can’t even get Kravstov now. It sounds like they didn’t want him included in the trade.
This is a nothing return for us on Kravstov, but he’s been nothing but a negative ever since he’s been here anyway so it’s really addition by subtraction.
No idea why people seem confused at such a light return for Krav. Brooks recently reported that the Rangers have been trying to trade him for weeks and no one was interested. His NHL totals are 5G 5A in 48 games and several “I deserve better than this” tantrums. Any team acquiring him knows he’s a big risk to just say fuck this and go back to Russia. What kind of assets do you think a team is giving up for this? That Drury got anything at all and didn’t have to waive him is a plus.

not sure why everyone is freaking out. is the return underwhelming? yes. did the rangers do any favors by benching him and having him play 6 minutes a game? no. did kratsov earn a top 6 spot? no. it is what it is. drury clearly didnt have a better offer otherwise he wouldve taken it..
Wake up call for all the Krav apologists: this is what the NHL thinks of him. We took this trade to free up cap space because Chicago isn’t interested and apparently neither was anyone else. This was probably a last ditch deal before they waived him because he had to go one way or another.
Pretty classless that Kravtsov learned through the press a couple days ago that his locker at the training complex had been removed. Exactly what I would expect here with Drury though.
