so we’re finally gonna acquire Quick, eh? I remember when we were rumored to get him a few season ago.

this is the last year of Quick’s deal.

  2. sergei-boobtitsky

Damn I wanted him so freaking bad in like 2017. Cool to finally see him in the ol Union Blue

Edit: maybe not if he’s gonna be like that lol

  3. Is Gavrikov going as well as rumored? Hope we get a solid return for taking on Quick even though it is the end of his deal.

    What is happening
    Quick is a blue jacket.

    Korpi is an LA King

    What

  5. Okay this doesn’t feel like reality. Jonathan Quick, Blue Jacket. Feels weird!

Glad we’re done with the major moves. Will miss Korpi a lot.

  6. SomeKindOfMonster

very interesting that the duo of Korpisalo/Forsberg are both gone. Came up through the Monsters together.

  7. GooseontheLoose03

I don’t really like this. We get an old goalie well past his prime whose been bad, and they get our best goalie and best active d-man. No picks no nothing. Just Quick.

Edit: and Quick is pissed he’s been traded. This is looking bad right away.

  8. Oh great….the follow up tweet sure sounds familiar.

“To say Jonathan Quick is unhappy with the trade, I’m told, is “an understatement.”

The entire #LAKings team was a bit down after the game, a win, and you could understandably see it in Anze Kopitar’s face after a 4-goal night.

Tough deal, Kings trading a franchise legend.”

Edit: would totally be a shame if this fractured their locker room and they tumble out of the playoffs and gave us another lottery ball

  9. Dkoop2003

Huh, rather odd, given we have Tarasov, but I don’t hate it. It’s kinda fun having a big name goalie again (even though he is past his prime at this point)

  10. Quick is PISSED about this it sounds like. Can’t blame him.

  11. triforce28

Who cares what Quick thinks. He can go back to LA or wherever in a couple of months

  12. ThisIsTheGpodawund

Why couldn’t this break in the morning? Now I can’t sleep

  13. Bassdropper_

Quick will probably never play a game for Columbus.

  14. tristanje

Probably the saddest I have been about trading a player. Going to miss Korpi a lot.

  15. If we’re also getting a 1st, I have to imagine a chychrun deal is still on the table for us then?

  16. nupharlutea

So, the Jackets get yet another franchise icon at the end of his career. Let’s hope he doesn’t retire after three weeks like the last one.

  17. RonTugMyNuts

Jarmo saw all these recent dubs, and said not on my watch

  18. Jersey sales will be interesting. But it looks like quick will most likely retire this summer, so honestly fits the tank pretty well.

  19. Complete salary cap dump. Gavrikov for a pick is about what we expected. But Quick is out of contract at season’s end, and won’t re-sign. That means Korpisalo’s contract is gone, and so is Quick’s, so we have a lot less cap money tied up in that position. And I’m guessing we weren’t going to be able to move Elvis’ contract instead.

It wouldn’t completely surprise me if Quick got moved AGAIN pre-deadline.

  20. Why even bother with Quick. Seriously. What is Jarmo doing?

  21. TheVideoGameManiac

Trading asset, probably? Legendary goalie, but he’s 37 and his stats show a BIIIT of decline. Got our first round pick, at least. Holy shit that was a shocker. Fly high, Magikorp. Will miss you!

  22. djs200217

As a ducks/jackets fan this is the worst timeline if he re-signs

  23. ThunderousDemon86

I’m assuming LA will retain at least 20% of Quick’s contract? He makes $5.8 million AAV, Gavi and Korpi combined make $4.1 million AAV.

  24. LA has so many nice prospects and young players. I’m dying to know if they managed to get someone notable on top of the 1st.

  25. pkenny72

Great! Another trade where the player dosent want to come to Columbus.

  26. Timberrr15

Ahh Quick the new tank commander won’t you please lead us to the sacred one known as Connor thus you be a Columbus legend

  27. EaglesAndCubsGoat

Solid chance we cut him before he ever plays a game but he’s a Blue Jackets legend

  28. SkrtSkrt70

So basically Gavrikov for a 1st, trade the goalies to make the money work, and we knew we couldn’t resign Korpi regardless so we do him a solid by giving him a chance to earn a big contract with a good playoff run?

  29. TH3_Dude

Well, if we don’t get Bedard somehow, my CBJ ticket expenses next year will drop to an all time low.

  30. doppleganger2621

Dredger saying this might also include a third

  31. 43goalie

[Dreger](https://twitter.com/darrendreger/status/1630912427502993409?s=46&t=Kn6aGl07LOrGYksC8Og5bQ) saying Quick, a first and a third for Korp/Gavi. The supposed foundation for our deal for Chychrun was Boston’s first and third. And it stands to reason that these two picks could be more valuable than Boston’s based on projected finish – especially if LA management has pissed off the whole team. We are probably still in on Chychrun then.

Whether Quick ever plays for us or not doesn’t matter. It does suck to see LA do him that way though, and for what reason? Not like him being involved was necessary – I could have accepted just the first and third. I hope he comes in and at least shoves it up LA’s tush for the game we play them. Or Jarmo could ask him where he wants to be if not LA and let him go there. For whatever. Man deserves better.

  32. HermanBonJovi

Damn. Poor quick. There was a time when he was arguably one of the top 5 goalies in the NHL. And now he’s a trade pawn. I get it he’s 37 and time catches everyone (except maybe Jagr), but still gotta sting if you’re him.

Best of luck to gavi and korpidos.

  33. Expensive-Republic-2

Is anyone happy about this trade?

  34. hockey17jp

Damn it’d be a shame if a disgruntled Quick came in and purposefully played horribly for us the last few games of the regular season.

Oh wait, that would actually be great.

  35. casperthegoth

Quick is the key to the tank. He is going to hate it here, of course. We aren’t going to love him. The players aren’t going to play for him.

In guise of seeing if we want to offer him a contract we will play him a bunch in order to lose those games. We will play Elvis when the standings tell us we can win. The team will be relieved to play for our guy, and will show up. Elvis is looking better. That will help build his confidence going into the off season.

This is the first time, and only conditions we should love getting someone who will hate Cbus.

Worst case, he rides the bench and stews in his anger while we play Elvis and let him sort things out.

Or we flip Quick to somewhere he would reasonably consider signing as a tenured player doing backup and basically coaching a new kid.

In the end, Quick may even retire after this… but really, getting a reasonable set of picks for Gavy and Korpi is way more than we thought would happen last night.

  36. HardKnockRiffe

Given that Gavy made it clear that he intends to hit the FA market, getting a 1st and 3rd for his loan and Korpi’s contract is a pretty decent return. I’ll miss Joonas, but he wasn’t the long term answer in net, so this gives us some flexibility and another pick.
