i don’t think the NHL has an agenda against the Wings necessarily, i think they’re just so obsessed with their “growing the game in non-traditional hockey markets in the US” plan (hello Arizona, NC) that they don’t give a crap if they piss off the established/traditional markets in the process.

they know we’re loyal, they have proof that we’ll keep coming back for more even if/when our teams suck and our cities don’t get rewarded with outdoor games or events like the Draft, so they take us for granted. Michigan in particular – so many NHLers are from or have lived here, the NTDP is here, the college teams are popular and UM is now attracting top Canadian players too, the Griffins have fantastic attendance numbers despite their recent struggles… Bettman knows we’re not leaving

    Wings can’t lose today.

    It’s a good day

  3. RedWong15

Getting out of the hockey card hobby right before Seider and Raymond showed up saved me a lot of money lol.

Also updated cherrypicked Cossa stat, Last 11 starts: .953 SV% 4 shutouts.

  4. PierogiPounder420

I know Seider is a beast and can make bone crushing hits, but last night he almost mixed it up with Deslauriers. Not sure if our boy is a scrapper

Where are my Wings fans from outside MI? I live in, and grew up in, Central NY. I used to go to Binghamton Whalers games in the 80s as a kid and saw the Adirondack Red Wings one night. I loved their uniforms, got a Red Wings puck in the gift shop and started following them in the paper (pre-internet days lol). Grew up watching Isles and Devils games on Sports Channel and fell in love with the game.

Now what…. A lottery pick is what we need. I’ve said it since Stevie came home, we do it right draft our guys where we can build, and just need to hit one lottery pick. A little bit of luck our way would go so far.

  7. HercHuntsdirty

Michkov is playing at 0.74PPG with HK Sochi right now as an 18 year old (December birthday as well). That’s exceptional.

If it weren’t the Bedard draft, he’d be the undisputed #1 overall pick.

For reference, that’s higher than Kuznetsov, Tarasenko, Panarin & Kaprizov.

  8. Which jerseys should my wife and I wear to the Wings Vs. Flyers on the 25th? I’ve got home Raymond, military appreciation Seider, and away McCarty. We are sitting directly behind the boys bench.

  9. RedWong15

Very curious who ends up where regarding Grand Rapids next year. We already have Hanas and Soderblom there but there’s a lot of potential prospects to add.

Lombardi, Tyutyayev, Mazur, Doucet, Mastrosimone could all be considered to join the team, not to mention potentially Kasper.

  10. I hope 2022 2nd round pick Dylan James can have an excellent finish to his season and then really take off and excel and exceed expectations next season.

  11. BlakeDatAzzUp

Idk why any business would ship using Fed Ex.

Half of my package arrived Saturday and the other half has an ETA for “TBD”

  12. Call me a fool. Downvote me.

Leo Carlson. Swede, 6’3”, 200, center, power player. Dominating and Uber physical. Best match for Wings in draft.

    Watch some highlights.

  13. TheNation55

I wonder what the record is for goals by an individual and team in back to back games. I have a feeling we’re going to be on the not-fun end of something historic this weekend against Boston.

  14. I was really enjoying the high from being in the playoff hunt. Now I’m a little deflated. The double loss to Ottawa, and then selling off at the TDL was a real gut punch. Now we’re playing some real lousy hockey. I won’t lie, I liked the excitement that came from playing meaningful games this late in the season. That fantastic road trip- wow!

But now I guess it’s time to get back to reality and wait for the lottery, then the draft, then free agency. It was a fun ride while it lasted- now back to the rebuild. I’m counting on LaLonde to re-motivate the boys and them back to playing fundamentally good hockey for the rest of the season.

  15. WearyDirt

There’s at 4 really really good looking prospects this year, even if it’s a massive drop off 1 to 2 and maybe 2/3 to 4, unfortunately there’s no way we win the lottery that hard.

  16. Jeez-essFC

The person in charge of Philly’s music should come to Detroit.

  17. Smokes_LetsGo_

It took me 27 spins on Tankathon before getting the Wings up to pick #2.

    Pain.

  18. ChompersMowersBamBam

Well that was a very painful week. All the excitement about possibly pushing for a playoff spot a week ago to now feeling like this.

  19. dudewithchronicpain

I still love the Detroit Red Wings

  20. AmazingSieve

It is shocking how this club absolutely collapsed after the big Western road trip. Like things just completely flipped and it seems like it’ll be a long end to the season

  21. xenonwarrior666

Is Klingberg a direct replacement for Hronek?

He’s older but might end up being a UFA.

  22. Did Hronek ever wear an A during his time here?

I don’t know how Hronek was in the locker room, but I never got the vibe that he was a leadership kind of guy. Which is fine, not hating on him, not everyone can fit that role.

However, I feel if he had more of a leadership quality he may have stayed and could have played an important role going forward as Stevie targets building around the an 18-21 year old core.

Obviously the return was got from him was hard to turn down.

  23. PremierBromanov

Yzerman saying that they werent going to get a bertuzzi contract done is pretty surprising to me, but glad we got a mid to late 1st out of it and that bertuzzi gets to start a new era on one of the best teams in the league.

Yeah yeah, bergy and krej might not be there, but there’s still plenty to work with.

  24. downered

I know I’m preaching to the choir, but man the NHL is a complete joke re: broadcasting rights and the ability to actually WATCH games as a fan.

Yesterdays game: BSD + NHL Network
    Weds game: TNT
    Sat game: ESPN+
    Sun game: TNT

Want to pay one price and watch all the games? Fuck you.

  25. Maybe_Im_Confused

Did Tumomisto defect from the Wings organization?

  26. PierogiPounder420

I like how Perron plays, but fuck his penalties lately.

  27. SpiritBamba

So Nashville a couple days ago posted a picture trash talking chicago, and some fan tweeted back calling them trashville. The Nashville Twitter then proceeded to doxx him by releasing his full name and info to millions of people, and they continued to further harass him when he deleted his account. And somehow people on Reddit/Twitter are championing them?? This is my problem, sure this is my generation and I grew up with this era but all of social media/the internet and everything that surrounds it is just extremely trashy now. It’s gross, people are gross. Nobody acts like the adult in the room ever, these are grown humans acting like this.

  28. AffectionateMrPink

2nd try on sim lottery we moved to #1. Let’s go. I’m done

  29. Brooksie019

I can’t tell if people are being serious about trying to get bedard now or not. There’s no way we are gonna drop that far in the standings to have a shot at getting that first pick.

  30. Call me crazy, but when was the last time we had a season where basically all the award winners were decided at the end of January? McDavid’s going to sweep the Hart/Lindsay/Art Ross (and like grab the Rocket unless Pasta catches him), Ullmark is getting the Vezina, Montgomery is getting the Jack Adams (very deservedly too, loved that guy in Dallas and I’m happy to see him in a better place now), etc. This season overall has been a ton of fun to watch, but I’m missing how wild the awards chase was last year. The playoffs will definitely make up for it, I think.

  31. ChadWarmington

buying my first e-bike today. a little nervous but i think it could change the way i commute to work/the store/wherever. anyone have any experience with using them?

  32. MoldyMerkin

Well at least we have the Tigers to look forward to soon, right?

  33. BlakeDatAzzUp

With two-picks in the teens this upcoming draft we are prime to select at least one, if not two of; Axel Sandin-Pellikka, David Reinbacher and Lukas Dragicevic.

  34. leafssuck69

Mazur will replace Bert’s role and I think he’s closer to the nhl than we think. I could see him getting games in sometime this calendar year. Maybe even in April

  35. lets_kill_time

Ok so looking at our holes at the back end. Here are the potential resolutions for next year as Stevie might draft an RD for long term solution.

    Veterans via free agency
Damien Severson ( w/ Devils now). (pretty much Hronek replacement)

Radko Gudas (w/ Panthers) (Defensive Dman)

    Scott Mayfield (w/Isles). (Defensive Dman)

    Via Trade:

The only two teams that make sense are:

Kings: they have too many RD on the roster and in the pipeline

Rangers: They have Fox/Trouba as top 4 and Brayden Schneider might need to be dealt as he won’t be happy as 3rd paid RD.

Kings are almost perfect partners as we have too many LDs and they have too many RDs.
