Really all that eliminates is benson and cristal up front and sandinpellika on the back end everyone oelse will be atleast slightly above average sozed when they are fully grown who are expected to go in the 6-15 range

I wonder where we would rank Matthew Wood in the case we are looking for size. Probably not with our own first but depending on where Florida ends the season he might be in that range.

I can see why they want to go for size. Suzu and Cauf aren’t big. They probably don’t want another top 6 player who is Suzu’s height or less. Hutson would probably be the only small Dman they would want in their D corps.

I mean, I don’t have an issue with going for size…. however…. there is so much talent in the top 15 of this draft that if they’re strictly going for size, then yes, it is a problem.
I think Gorton and Hughes won’t miss. To be honest, I have faith in this management group.

I take this with a massive grain of salt obviously, but it also wouldn’t shock me. Gorton/Hughes have been making a concerted effort to make us bigger, drafting Slafkovsky (6’3”) and trading for Dach (6’4”), Gurianov (6’3”), Matheson (6’2”) and Barron (6’2”). They also apparently highly value Anderson (6’3”) and Edmundson (6’5”).
Obviously I hope this isn’t the case, but I haven’t seen enough from either Gorton or Hughes to have unconditional faith in their decisions. I learned my lesson after having blind faith that Bergevin knew what he was doing, only to realize he was just a snake oil salesman.

Bedard is greatly over rated. He’s top tier against lower tier competition. But it isn’t clear yet whether his talent will translate vs bigger players in the NHL. I like his creativity and his determination for the puck though. I see his floor as Lafreniere and his ceiling as Jack Hughes. I think it will all come down to his shot. It’s gotta be a top tier shot well disguised. He can certainly pass top tier. I’m sure he will be great but I’m doubtful whether he’ll be a generational talent in the NHL.

I found it interesting that he claims top 4 they will not go “off-board” in his view, because that implies he thinks they would take Michkov, which some others have claimed they would likely not do.

It is still too early to figure out the draft picks. There are still games to play and a lot of positions will be changing.

Sounds like a load of crap to me but I’m perfectly fine with drafting some size instead of more small wingers.
If by size he means that they would draft Sale instead of Benson because he’s 6’1” then I’m on board with this.
If he means they draft Stramel 7th overall because of his physical package, then I’m not on board, at least not at 7. I’m all aboard on drafting Stramel but not in the top 10.

Yeah I dunno if I buy that. Sure Kent probably likes size on a player, but pretty much every GM does. Everyone wishes Hutson or Caufield were like 6’2. Yet, judging by the last draft, what seems to be more important for Kent is hockey IQ with guys like Mesar, Beck and Hutson. Even 6’4 Dach is a very cerebral player. And it’s not like the big guys we have are “just big”. Guhle, Xhekaj, Dach, Matheson, Barron are all big, but smooth skaters with a certain level of talent. Eveb Slaf, whose skating isn’t the smoothest, was picked for the talent he posseses and the potential he could reach. So even if Kent would prefer a bigger prospect, he’d still probably go for a smart, talented one.
