The LA Kings have won 3 in a row as they get set to host the Washington Capitals. New Kings goalie Joonas Korpisalo won his LA debut over the weekend. I’ll tell you how he looked and what the goalie rotation should be the rest of the season with him and Pheonix Copley. Former Kings goalie Jonathan Quick made his Vegas debut, I watched it. I tell you want I saw. All that and more on this edition of Locked on LA Kings.

Was at the Kings Canadians game the team looked awful and flat granted it was the game after the trade, however Copley let in another baby soft goal from distance with a clear sight on it and I didn't care much for ol Johnny boys performance
I feel like coply has proven himself and he should be #1
Eddie, Think of this. Byfield is a kid, he is playing on the top line. You can see Byfield playing better as each game progresses. I think he respects Kempe, and Kopitar, and has a pass first mentality. In 2 years my bet is that he puts it's all together. Now that Quick and Korpisolo, look at the save percentage difference between the two. Quick through out an 887 while Korpisolo boasted a 921. Furthermore, Quick looked shaky down the stretch. Quick played for Vegas just like he had with the Kings. The one thing I think that would elevate us into a true contender is Arvidsson. Arvidsson needs to crash the net, and put some umph behind his shots. This is similar to what Lizotte needs to do. Those guys catch fire, and we can win the west. Go Kings Go
I don’t think QB deserves to be on the 1st line but I don’t want to see him at center on the 2nd-4th line anymore either. I think if you even just look at the skill level alone Stutzele far exceeds QB. He’s kinda klutzy out there and puck always falls off his stick when he’s carrying the puck. Not what you would expect with 2nd pick and of the draft. I think he should be down in Ontario working on his game and helping them win some playoff series. There is plenty of time and we have enough talent without him right now. I’d like to see some others get a shot with a call up (Madden, Fagemo, Thomas, Dudas, Chromiak). They are all deserving. I hope QB proves me wrong but I think I’ve seen enough to say right now Stutzele is always going to be the better player and our scouting got that one wrong !
I worry about Sean Durzi come playoffs. Mistakes become much more glaring then. GO KINGS GO!
It's easy to see how QB dominated in the OHL but he just needs to relax and be more in control in the NHL. Too often he passes when he should shoot (probably learned that from Kopitar) or shoots when he should pass. But my biggest concern is that there's no in-between regarding his play on the first line, he's either on it and they're rockin' or he's not and the whole line suffers since Kopi and Kempe can't do it on their own. So if he's not on it and helping that line I hope coach Mac has a backup plan for putting someone else up there, and NOT Fiala (okay, sometimes) or you kill the 3-line depth we should have. I also have a gripe with the first pp unit using up too much time when they're not clicking. If you're not clicking get off and get Kaliyev out there.
Other than that I love our new kids and look forward to everyone clicking once Moore gets back and it's playoff time. Speaking of when Moore's back, when that happens what will our bottom six lineup be? I'd hate to need MacEwen and not have him dressed – just saying… 🥊🥊🥊 GKG
I've said this before this is exactly what Byfield has needed, to learn how to play the right way from the best in tge world (exactly what Villardi needed but hey all good now) the skill that Byfield has is very apparent there are times he makes plays that are slick as glass but he really needs to learn how to use his size more effective he is a high skill player that has a frame for more, all that being said I think Villardi has shown he most definitely the most skilled under 25 guy and maybe on the team the hands on that PP goal the Duke and roofed beauty
If Byfield don't pick it up soon he is not going to b on the 1st line I believe he will moved down to 3rd or 4th line come playoffs
GKG 💯
rotate until someone takes the bull by the horns
Copley is no #1 goalie not on the kings or any other team.
Another super weak goal tonight and he rarely makes the unexpected save.
I'd hate to have him as the #1 goalie heading into the playoffs.
As far as Byfield goes I still believe that he just simply does not have the talent to be on this kings team.
One nice pass every once in awhile is not nearly enough for a first line player.
Good show as usual.

Byfield reminds me a lot of Joe Thornton. I think bigger players just take more time to develop so I think Quinton will be fine. But he reeeeeealy needs to be stronger on the puck. Especially for his size. GKG!!!
I simply disagree with Eddies opinion of Byfield. Stutzle is a -44. He sucks! If you have no defense, you are a one-way cherry-picker and you are crap. A lot of players can pad stats by being a selfish one way player. Good luck Stutzle ever being a team player. The way they are using him just might ruin him.
Byfield is learning the 200ft game. Everyone knew Stutzle was ready now and Byfield would take e few years, then the broken ankle, etc, etc. I would not trade Stutzle for Byfield. Kopi wants Byfield on his line, and that is all you need to know. Numbers don't lie. Since Byfield has been on that line it has been turbocharged. It passes the eyeball test how Byfield has elevated his game. Byfield is a mess for a lot of reasons, but he is improving and pushing our first line.
Give Byfield three years in the Kings system. SEE; Kempe and Vilardi.
9 & 11 1st line With 55 Byfield 4.15 GF/60 VS. 1.62 GA/60
9 & 11 1st line W/O 55 Byfield 2.33 GF/60 VS. 2.58 GA/60
NUFF SAID
I know things nearly always take some time-esp. for the Kings-but…which two guys were on the ice for one of the Capitals goals…hint, a forward and a 'd'-man…Oh, why play games…Byfield and MacEwen for first goal and the second one was a two man advantage…so I'd be more inclined to blame those taking stupid penalties against a team with Alex Ovechkin on the forward line? Yet, the new guys also seem to be figuring in on some goals, so it's not all bad? I just hope they can find it in their hearts to learn the Kings' system and learn some defensive maneuvering, as defense is what made the Kings famous 😉
Just watched that Vilardi goal against St. Louis several times over and over again. That may be in the Top 5 all time goals from a King !!! I hope more players break out into NHL studs like Vilardi. He did spend almost an entire year in Ontario and it did him well. I’d like to see Byfield prove himself there first and then come back up. Kid is so young, why do we need to rush him. We got all kinds of offensive weapons on the team and in the system.
for quick's vegas debut i hoped the knights would lose but it not be quick's fault. and i will continue to do so every game he plays.
