As a sens fan, your analysis seems pretty level headed, we're *probably not making the playoffs this year but next year gets a lot more exciting with a guy like chychrun and with his friendly contract it also puts at ease some worries about siging our other players, like DeBrincat. Army probably coulda gotten a better return had he dealt Chych back in January or Febuary imo as his high asking price seems to have scared most buyers into other options, which limited the amount of teams that could meet his no money back caveat, so the sens fit nicely into that hole and both sides seem happy. I hope he likes playing with our boys as I can see him and Sanderson being a particularly nasty duo for opposing forwards. Thank you guys and good luck with your picks!

Great trade for Ottawa. More of a future move than for today. Even if they don't make the playoffs this year they will have all hands on deck for the start of next year.

Missing from this conversation is that the Coyotes did not get any live bodies back in the trade, including one of the rumoured players, Sogaard, Greig or Pinto. That was really important for Ottawa.
Coyotes in no way got the asking price they've been holding out for.
Nashville got for Ekholm what AZ should have gotten for Chycrun.
I'm surprised that none of our prospects were included…or even Formenton.
That said, I agree with the notion that Ottawa didn't require salary retention in the deal, nor did it involve a salary dump from Ottawa to AZ. Where as Pit, etc, likely wouldn't/couldn't move off of that ask.
