  1. "Gifted Lafrianere" 🤣imagine winning the lottery and blowing it, taking Alexis or Blythfield, and letting us have Raymond anyway

  2. LGR yet another Gorton reach off the board pick. Looks JS is yet another in a long line of guys who could be Naah but instead turn into JP of the Oilers couldn’t happen to a better organization Huges is just a guy that deals with the cap and to try recruiting FA to MTL basically a glorified highly paid cheerleader

  3. Top ten picks rarely make immediate impacts. When they do its amazing, but fans need to ease their presumptions. Piling expectations on these kids is a good way to ruin them. A top ten pick is going to be a useful NHL player if developed right but not a guaranteed star that's just not statistically factual. And sometimes they do become stars it just takes way longer than fans want.

  4. It's rare at 18 year old player had impact. For slaf I think he could benefit this summer to be a bit lightweight to improve is speed, 239 pound was massive

  5. I think it’s generous to paint Slafs opportunities as that much better than wrights. he’s often benched, plays 10 a night and plays with Evans and Pezzetta/Armia most nights.

  6. All that really matters is where they end up in 3 years. I think MTL being the market it is, and the pressure put upon them really screwed the pooch. Give him some time in the AHL or lower levels and make them develop at levels where they are not overmatched by MEN.. Some guys can step in and make immediate impact (See Sidney Crosby or Ovi).. but most won't. Even Connor McDavid took a few seasons to become the player he is today. The fact that there was questions about who should be taken #1.. meant both needed more time. Only when you have a no-doubter should you consider putting them straight into the NHL.

  7. Burning the ELC year will matter in 3 years. If Hakstol screw’s around with Wright next year as well then nothing matters

  8. He's a big kid, no actually he's a HUGE KID. These big guys take a little while to get coordinated in their bodies. Just ask Tage Thompson

  9. Listen, all I’ll say is Wright’s development was handled way better than Slaf’s development. Since camp, you could clearly see Slaf wasn’t ready to handle the rigours of the NHL. Beck and Mesar had better camps and the right decision was taken in their cases. I just feel this year was a waste development wise. Having him play half a season in the AHL would have been excellent for his development. He would have gotten acclimatized to the NA game without having to deal with the pace and physicality of the NHL. This year was the year to send him down. Next year, if he falters, sending him to the A would be seen as a major step back and could ultimately mess with his confidence/mentality.

  10. Beakout threshold for big men is 400 games. I really feel like the fishbowl market in mtl will do some damage to slaf in that time. Just trade for lafreniwre and everybody wins…

  11. Hughes basically said that he doesn't trust the Laval Rocket to develop Slaf properly so he kept him in the NHL

  12. Both players are from a weak draft…the weakest in at least several seasons. Even so neither players are expected to be stars, in fact neither player is expected to be semi-stars. What they both bring to their teams is “hope” that they develop into something useful. Pretty sad draft season for two players battling for the top two spots. In fact…barely worth mentioning. Comparing to Lafrenierre…who plays and hopefully develops on the Rangers kid line…pretty tough situation for Lafrennierre.

  13. You hate to talk about two player's career's like this but… Well, it's got you the views… And also my comment, so people in glass houses… I suppose.
