Folks on twitter are all upset that he said he’s not afraid to say rebuild but rebuild doesn’t mean fire sale.

But that’s the right attitude to have. Guys like Tippett, York, Farabee, Hart, Cates are still going to be good when we need them to be. Fire sale would put us in Arizona territory, which at the current moment they have a lot of young players and prospects to be excited about, but that took them 10 years and it still seems a while before they’re going to be good

Honestly, I fucking love Danny briere. I’ve always thought he was super intelligent and well spoken. I hope he succeeds as a legendary GM.

It seems as if Danny had a different take than Fletcher if you read between the lines. We’ll see.

I’m of the kind we do some sort of rebuild but I don’t like trading guys like Provorov, Konecny, Laughton. Not something I wanna do. I don’t think it’s a 5+ year process. I still think they’ll be useful when the even younger guys we have our gonna be in their primes.

It would be sort of heartbreaking if Danny ended up being another run of the mill, mediocre to bad Flyers GM. I have genuine hope that he will very successful

So it’s only a matter of time before the interim tag is removed? He basically has the job?

    3 takeaways from this:

1- Dave Scott is a complete coward and empty suit. You have no VP, and you give this guy the interim GM tag, and you can’t even show up? How fitting is it that this guy’s only public moments were in saying the Hextall Flyers were ready to contend, that Fletcher was an amazing GM, that he was excited about Gerry Mayhew, and that this will be a quick retool.

2- He is obviously out by the offseason. Even Briere slipped up and referenced ‘Dave and Dan’. My guess is that by summer, they hire a VP and Camilo steps in as full time Governor of the Flyers as ‘Silent Scott’ retires. Alternatively, Hilferty moves to hold both titles like Scott previously did.

3- Briere’s resume is tissue-paper thin, so it is right that he’s not in the running for the VP job and that he wears an ‘interim’ tag for the GM role. Hilferty and co should give Briere his window leading up to the draft, but if they interview a better GM candidate, and they absolutely should still be interviewing for both positions, you pick the best one for the future, irrespective of whether they’ve never worked for the Flyers. If they don’t pick Briere, offer him AGM and kick sized-obsessed nahture boy to the curb.

  8. I’m looking for confidence and vision. I haven’t seen it yet; more defensiveness and evasion packaged in a well spoken manner. You have to read between the lines, which is not what we need right now. Obviously he just got the job like yesterday, but still; I fear continuation with a few changes instead of a wrecking ball.
