  1. Christian Dvorak almost has the exact same amount of points as he does on a worse team and his contract isn’t going for eight more years. Dach has 5 more points in 10 less games so we don’t need him anyway.

  2. I have enjoyed watching KK show these moments of offensive IQ. The first three months were a bit slow for him in that regard but since then he has been fairly consistent. Defensively he is pretty good for a 22 year old. His need is still his skating. Other than working on skating technique and speed, I can see him continuing to grow in our system.

  3. Kk has been getting better all year long. He does things that do not show up on the score sheet and allows his linemates to play free-er

  4. Jesperi could be the next Tage Thompson, a first round pick that requires a couple more years to reach his potential.

  5. A couple things on KK this season. He has been a beast in the face off and defensively, and in the first half of the season he was still making all these plays, but often they would get broken up or the shot would be off target or saved. So it’s not that he just turned into a PPG player in the last month, just a lot more offense has actually conveyed in the last month.

  6. I saw a couple Montreal fans die the day he was drafted. I thought he was going to be good and think you might have to wait a little longer for him to fully bloom. McCann took a while and Jesper is more skilled. And he has gotten a lot better. Skill work ethic and IQ. He is worth the contract. At first I was skeptical. Then again he could regress and leave me with mud on my face. But he does not seem the type to slip back.

  7. As a Habs fan, i can tell u he used to do this occasionally, thats about all i can say, best of luck KK but even Drouin had some good stretches.

  8. Not only has KK been very good offensively over this latest stretch, he has shown his offensive capabilities the entire season, with the first couple of months just not turning into points, but allowing others to produce more. But a little factoid that should be known: ever since Rod put together that Turbo-KK-Necas line, members from that one line have put up a total of 26 points, but when on the ice in that time span, 0 goals have been allowed. I guess Habs fans just want to hate on KK because otherwise, they would have to admit their management made a massive blunder.

  9. KK has played very well this season while skating in the 2C role. But last year in the 2021-22 regular season he closed with only 1 goal in his final 20 games, in 14 playoff games in 2022 he went scoreless, & in the first 26 games of this the 2022-23 season he had only 2 goals. So he experienced an absolutely brutal stretch of 60 games with only 3 goals. But he's really improved as this seasons progressed with both his scoring & playmaking. He's always been solid on face-offs, & isnow playing far more engaged & active physically, & has always been strong defensively, although he still remains somewhat of a project in the skating department. KK still needs to continue to prove that he can consistently put pucks in the net & generate points for longer than just a couple months as a 2C. The Canes $6.1m 2021 offseason offer sheet fiasco & their subsequent $38.4m 2022 eight year contract extension placed a lot of unnecessary pressure & created unrealistic expectations for a 21 year old kid that had been slow in developing as a former third pick in the 2018 draft. But to his credit at age 22, Jesperi Kotkaniemi finally appears to be blossoming with better players around him on the Canes 2nd line (i.e. Teravainen & Necas).

  10. just remember he had a goal, 1 first assist and 3 second assists… his point total still not add up to the salary they pay him…lets see what happens in playoffs… still not convinced he will ever be a star

  11. He has played great the past month. In fact his salary will be a steal if he continues to produce like he has recently. He looks like a very capable 2nd line center with Necas on his wing. He is looking better and better every game. He plays a physical game and is a very good face off man. Canadians gave up on him too soon. Not knowing how to develop talent hurts the team. However, the Canadians will have plenty of young players to build around. The Cane's have done a great job of stock piling young talent.

  12. The day he was traded, he was showing no sign of what he is actually does right now. Paying him 6.1M was too much at the time of the trade and CAR has taken an expensive chance to secure him into their roster.
I'm not yet to say it was a steal, though he is currently performing very well.

I understand he was young, probably MTL didn't want to lose him but money talked.

  13. I am happy for KK. He wasn't treated fairly in Montreal. Bergevin didn't know how to develop rookies.
