STEVEN KAMPFER TRADE, FABBRI OUT & CZARNIK RECALLED – Hockeytown University Mini – March 11th, 2023

On today’s mini clip, Zack goes over this weekends events going up again the Boston Bruins in back to back games today and tomorrow.

Austin Czarnik was recalled from the Grand Rapids Griffins under emergency conditions for the Detroit Red Wings due to Robby Fabbri missing the game tonight, not sure about Sunday’s game yet.

Pius Suter will be filling in for Fabbri on the top 6, Lalonde mentions that Suter has been playing really well and deserves the fill in.

Lalonde also mentions that Magnus Hellberg will be starting in net today, while Husso will be the starter on Sunday’s game.

WE HAVE A TRADE! After the deadline? Steven Kampfer was traded to the Arizona Coyotes in exchange for future considerations. This was most likely to either promote within the Grand Rapids Griffins players within, or to make room for a NCAA free agent. Nonetheless, we wish nothing but best of luck to Kampfer and hope he gets to play in the NHL again soon.

IN OTHER NEWS: The Philadelphia Flyers have officially parted ways with General Manager Chuck Fletcher and have assigned Danny Briere as the Interim General Manager.
– Fletcher was recently quoted around the trade deadline that he “has an app that helps the team decide if a trade proposal is “fair trade or not fair trade”.

Stay off NHL23 Chuck…

  1. We could go through a full season without a win and still not get the first Draft pick. I have massive trust issues with how "fair" or "random" draft lotteries are. But the Kampfer move and Fabri injury made room for some Walleye to get AHL minutes. I think it is also very appropriate to give Husso a break now that it is clear we aren't making a playoff push. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the season unfolds.

  2. After seeing this several times about that app comment from the Flyers GM I’m like…..
Thank God we have Stevie 👍
