I can't even begin to describe how poor a job the refs did tonight. I've been watching hockey for 25 years, and I'm not sure I've seen any game as horribly officiated as tonight.
Here's a few blunders just off the top of my head. I know I'm missing at least a few. By all means, reply with more examples. My head is spinning.
1. 5th Avs goal shouldn't have counted for multiple reasons. Icing, Soggy covered it (no whistle), and pushing the pad.
2. Makar boards Greig. No call.
3. Same play, Greig cross checks Makar, Makar dives. Penalty to Greig, no embellishment call on Makar.
4. Giroux gets his stick ripped out of his hands. Giroux skates away and the Avs player is holding 2 sticks, one in each hand. No call.
5. Same play, Giroux goes back to grab his stick, gets cross checked. Penalty to both players. Avs deserved 2 penalties on that play: 1 for holding the stick, 1 for cross checking. If that was Giroux diving, how was Makar not diving? I'd love the refs to explain that.
6. Then final 10 seconds of the game, refs blow the whistle when the goalie doesn't have the puck. It was loose the whole time. Sens would have had an empty net to shoot at. Too bad, refs wanted to go home, ended the game instead. Absolutely disgraceful.
I wanted to see someone take the fine and say what we're all thinking. Refs are a joke.
Refs s/b hauled into the office tomorrow and be suspended without pay. Disgusting Officiating..

The refs never lose you a game you should have won. I'm a sens fan but I'm not going to blame the refs. Take it out of their hands and win the game regardless of the bad calls.
Why couldn't the refs review the play and then realize a) it was offside. and B) The goalie had the puck covered and call a no goal?
I feel so bad for the Senators. They were so close to making the playoffs. I hope they do well next season and make the playoffs.

Usually after every loss I am mad but I know how hard they worked so I’m not really that mad but the refs like oh my gosh
Ottawa can't win if your both goalies are from the farm team with no experience in the NHL . We are hurting so bad with top players out you won't win a game we'll be lucky to even make the playoffs now . Yes Ottawa came out strong in the 3rd but time was running out BUT the REFS didn't help either to many very bad CALLS near the end.
Refs should be suspended without pay. What an absolute disgrace of a game. I can tolerate one bad call. But there were a good three or four ridiculous call/no call instances. I can’t believe this shit is allowed in a professional sports league. Can you imagine if this was a game in the finals?
one of the worst non calls ive ever seen, no icing, covers the puck and no goaltender interference, officials should be embarrassed.
Can't blame the refs when you pissed a way the season in November and then played like crap against bottom feeders in the last few weeks. Honestly Ottawa needs a new coach, a new game plan, directions and strategy.
