  1. this has been a point of contention for a lot of people and my only issue with it is I feel like it's overlooked that the players who are retaliating often don't have the same view of the play that we do and the commentators do. They see their guy go down hard, or even in some instances don't see the hit unfold much at all and just see their teammate down on the ice and go after who they assume did it. everything happens so much faster at ice level than it seems like it does for us who have a wide view of the whole ice. I think if you have enough sack to send someone flying into the boards, or send someone to the locker room, you oughta be ready to stand up for yourself. I mean people protect their goalie for far less. to me its a camaraderie thing.

  2. TBH there is not enough fighting anymore in hockey. Let them fight

  3. LMFAO. This is one of the main points for fighting. It's a deterrent for other players hitting your guys. So is having a big guy on your team that will go out and hit your team back. Pretty sure this guy would rather have his assed kicked than Benn steam rolling him. Do you even watch hockey?

  4. If this guy doesnt want to throw a big hit because of Faksa retaliating…. then all that tells me is that the retaliating (policing) worked.

  5. Certain types of hits have a higher probability of injuring players, even when they are clean. Open ice hits, blind side hits, etc. You don't want to refs to call these hits, they are clean after all. So, what happens is players stick up for their team mates and take matters into their own hands. In my opinion this is perfectly fine and probably the best way to send a message and handle these types of hits. Let to boys play.

  6. So if we take out fighting after a clean hit there would be 0 fights that game. You’re saying you want 0 fighting in hockey? Because that’s what you’re guna get

  7. It was a blind side hit though so the fight was perfectly fine!

  8. I suspect that more liberal use of the existing instigator penalty would cut down on these BS fights after a clean hit. Give the instigator at least five minutes over and above whatever his "opponent" receives. The instigators own team will be kicking his ass if they end up being killed on the PK time and time again.

  9. One of the biggest points you missed is that this was glendenning’s first game back from an injury and Dallas just lost seguin and marchment to injury during the last 2 games. Fights are sometimes a simple message to say “we don’t want our guys getting hurt so we’ll fight to discourage any heavy hits tonight”. Y’all are reading into the “clean/dirty” description too much. Hockey is a team sport and good teammates will fight to protect each other even from clean hits that can cause an injury.

  10. You literally explained why this IS happening…. because it makes the opposing team think twice before taking big hits on your team mates.
Many big hits lead to injuries…. so it's essentially telling the other team, hands off…. or we throwing hands 😅

  11. I disagree. If you want to throw your weight around on the ice, than you should be able to back it up, clean, or not. If you have concussion issues that you don't want to get worse, then don't lay people out.

  12. Considering Luke just got back from being out since February 17th on IR. I’d go chuck some knuckles if someone laid a good hit on him. At the same point everything happens so quick. Had it been a head contact and not shoulder people would be asking why no one stood up like what happened to Makar.

  13. What i hate the most also is a 3rd man rush. 2 players fight for the puck then a 3rd one blind sight in with a big hit. That should be a penalty like a 3rd man in a fight.

  14. Automatic 5 game suspension for this. Millennial hockey babies need to grow up as there is hitting in hockey. You want fan support you better give this crap up. Go play at 8 rinks if you want no contact hockey, however does not pay as well.

  15. nah your wrong you dont like the heat get out the kitchen people like you is going to make are sport soft. give people an ich they will take a mile. you half to answer to the bell. or people will start targeting the stars again

  16. Agree with what you said. There is a solution, however, assuming NHL officials could get it right: hand out intigator penalties and award power plays if someone jumps someone else for throwing a clean hit.

  17. The problem is the teammates of the guy getting jumped not standing up for him. This seems to be quietly tolerated by all of the players on the league

  18. It makes sense for star players. If someone throws a huge hit on say Matthews or Matthews, someone had BETTER go after them. Stars should be "Untouchable", and if you want to hit them, you'll pay the price. However, clean hits on everyone else shouldn't result in a fight.

  19. Wrong, fans whining about fights after clean hits, refs breaking up goalie fights and 10 minute reviews are ruining hockey. This was Luke Glendenings first game back from being on injured reserve for nearly a month and was easing his way back into the lineup. It was a blind side hit and he slammed into the boards pretty hard as well but whether it’s a clean or dirty hit, it’s still dangerous when you’re going that fast. If you aren’t willing to answer the bell then you SHOULD think twice about throwing a big check. You can’t allow opponents think it’s open season on your teammates. That sends a bad message. Especially with all the head injury’s taking guys out of the lineup and ending careers early. Those concussions aren’t coming from fights. They’re from big hits and no you don’t just get concussions from hits to the head. Often it’s from the whiplash the head takes after receiving a big hit to the chest or shoulder. You forgot to mention Vancouver got a power play out of it. They have been giving instigators all season for fighting after clean hits. What else do you want? A match penalty? If that was Mcdavid instead of Glendening, there’s no way you have a problem with that fight.

  20. Would much rather players get into fights after hits than players ending up with mushy brains at 45.

Also fighting has historically been going down for years now, this is just the new thing for fans to focus in on as if it's some dramatic change. Protect your teammates, the refs won't.

  21. Just make instigating a fight due to a clean hit a 5 min major people will be much more hesitant to throw a tantrum because someone played the game legally
