McKown is in my eyes the top NCAA free agent forward, if not the top of all the NCAA free agents. Some upside potential here. Looks like he’s gonna slot in to the lineup sometime soon, probably as the 4C

Looks like he didn’t produce much offensively in his draft year (2020) multiple individuals say he should’ve been a late round pick but a lot of them did applaud his defensive game!

“A bit of a hidden gem in the United States National Team Development Program, Hunter McKown split the 2019-20 season between the U18 and the U17 squads.
Exactly why he couldn’t find a more permanent role with the U18 team escapes me, especially when one considers some of the forwards that did play consistent minutes on that team. When with the U17 group, Mckown wasthe man, logging big -timeminutes, and getting some looks down the middle rather than just on the right wing. With the U18 team, however, he had to settle for deployment scraps, and failed totie down a consistent shift despite showing some glimpses of playmaking ability and defensive awareness.
On both squads, the defensive zone was really where McKown shone brightest. His game lends itself better to centrethan itdoes the wing, simply because he’s so damn good at supporting his defencemen in the corners and his wings in transition.”
