High IQ forecheck. Kessel knew Bear wasn't going to carry that puck with no speed to even come close to evading or rewinding with a patient swing during rhe line change. So, Kessel deduced that Bear is getting rid of that puck with 100% certainty. Seeing the VAN line change [ which wasn't terrible; it was iust a bit of a yawning line change ] Kessel knows that Bear likely won't just ( blindly ) reverse the play up the boards, with the high likelyhood of getting slapped with a bench minor for too many men on the ice.
Kessel deduced all of this in-stride and capped it with patience. Great stuff. Don't care for Vegas but would love to see Phil Kessel on postseason ice .
