i figure he's selling himself short for a humbling point. as Ovi gets closer, that kid in a candy store will slowly but surely emerge once again. when he breaks the record, he can let out the biggest sigh of relief and really enjoy the moment. my mental image of that future is taken from the last few seconds of the 2018 Stanley Cup Finals. sure, by the time his historic moment comes, Ovi will be grayer but still the same guy as that one in 2018.
