This is really disheartening to hear. I still try and understand how this team can start off so hot and even end up at the top of the Western conference at one point but suddenly drop off and just give up. It’s not like we had a rash of injuries to place blame on. This year has actually been pretty good with avoiding long term injuries with our top players. So what is the issue? Man, I wish I knew. But this team with the same players are giving up on Bowness just like they did with Pomo. It’s a culture problem and we will be reliving this tragedy every year until something is done.

Trade shuffle along and wheeler …make ehlers captain

  3. It came to me yesterday about this team. Obviously they can be great, we all know it. But there’s something wrong and I figure that the team needs a “sports psychologist” to sort their crap out.

Or they don’t give a rats ass and are playing for the cheque.

  4. It’s simple.

If a player doesn’t want to play for this city, trade them for what you can get. We’ve seen teams with equivalent or lesser talented rosters go all the way. There’s nothing more infuriating as a sports fan then watching a team play that clearly don’t give a shit.

  5. Oenohyde

They need a captain who will kick butt and take names.

Sooooo much complacency from the best players, and even the bottom 6.

This team has no defensive forwards. (I miss Copp)

Bob Gainey comes to mind, a guy how would come back and positionally cover. Probably the greatest ever.

Maybe this team needs to see footage of his awesomeness.

Lowery is probably the best back checker.

The rest are all waiting for the defenders to fix it.

Come back home! Help the defence!

  6. It’s pretty evident just from watching the games that their hearts aren’t in it. Not all but a good few especially the core

This is coming from a guy who generally supports Chevy. I thought he was a genius keeping the group together this year instead of blowing up because I beileve this team has what it takes and they showed it at the start of the year. But its past time for a change. If motivation is a root issue for some of these guys then its time to let go.

  8. Firm-Candidate-6700

This won’t be a popular opinion but I think they used to draw lots of motivation from the fans. We were loud for them, we had their back, and in turn they had ours.

Now they have been boo’d, dissed hard in chat rooms and on social media. I don’t think they give a fuck about playing hard for us and I don’t blame them necessarily. More than anything I want to see this change.

This move may be genius by coach. Now that’s its publicly known the fault lies solely on the players and you can bet your ass some of them will see this article and discuss. It could either go 1 of 2 ways. They realize their reputation is on the line and this is the spark or they get pissed and have hurt egos and now we see a complete lack of effort lol hopefully it’s the spark and this ignites and pisses the team off in a good way right before playoffs.

  10. CDNUnite

I think I’m finally jumping on the “blow it up” train

  11. mb_ice_princess

    To quote Shoresy…

    “They don’t hate to lose”

  12. mothereffinb

“the commitment to do that for 60 minutes has to come from them. So if we’re sitting there patting them on the back… the coaches are wrong. So we address it and what we always do is we move on.”

Players who don’t put in the effort need to be benched. This cancer is spreading. A loud message needs to be sent. Give hard workers like ASJ more playing time. Rejig the PP. punish the veterans who don’t have the desire to play anymore by not playing them. Maybe a night or two in the press box wakes them up. If it don’t then let ‘em ride out the season away from the team. Cut the cancer out!

  13. How can they not be motivated to return to form. It just makes no sense to me. They know what it feels like to be running well. They know they can win as a group when they run well. Running well took them to the top of the West for a good stretch.

How can anyone reach those heights and just get so frustrated at the slightest adversity that they give up on getting back there? It takes so much individual motivation and self discipline to became an NHL player in the first place that I just don’t understand how they have collectively, as a team, just lost the will to work? Especially when these exact same guys where flying high just 3 months ago.

I am just boggled by all this and how it keeps happening every year. AT this point I hope that Bones public reveal just tanks them completely and they lose every game for the rest of the year. I am convinced that only complete embarrassment will force the changes that are needed by TNSE.

  14. Bagelchu

So Scheif and wheeler are back on their bullshit and other players are sick of them getting away with it?

We had the most toxic locker room in the NHL, then had a reportedly amazing locker room to start this season and now this? Wtf happened? Someone is cancer and needs to go.

  15. space_tigress

Anyway I’m going to keep saying fire Chevy like I have the past couple seasons until it actually happens. Or does he need to “step down” too?

  16. This all started the year 55 and 26 pushed Laine out. I would love to hear what Buff has to say about the two.

  17. freshstart102

I don’t see alot in this article other than a coach trying to get 60 minutes out of his team. What coach isn’t continually trying to do that? Granted some teams might come.by it easier than this Jets team but overall I think they’re working hard but they need to be more .patient and less frustrated about playing every game to win one to zip with the only goal comìng on the powerplay. Then there’s the matter of that powerplay…..

  18. tonypenthouse

Life was better when there was 1290 TSN and the macho king calling in to the fan line to stoke the fire…

  19. Off season is coming fast. Clearly management knows whom the issue is. Time to trade them for whatever the market says they are worth in the off season. Be the best for them as players and the team. If that means 2 or 3 core pieces get shuffled off… so be it. Time for Chevy to prove his own worth. I get it its hard to get players to move to Winnipeg… but we would be better off with 5 players like Lowery (or going back a bit Thorburn) and a bunch of rookies then this core. They can flash sure… but clearly when the games pick up in intensity and pace in the homestretch they don’t have what it takes.

  20. 26 and 55 are disgruntled, Wheeler because of a lack of loyalty and his demotion and Scheif because of his contract. He knows he has the potential to be our #1 player and highest paid contract but he signed a long-term deal early at what is now mid-level wage.

55 picks things up when he has to, but that’s it. 26 would pass on a breakaway because he’s done. No loyalty from the fans/coach/team after being stripped. He was ok at the start of the season but y’all need a wake up call. How much painkiller does a dude need to be on in order to walk off a ruptured testicle. He played the rest of the game. With a broken nut. That shit should cripple you. No rumors but seriously, he IS human.

Reality is setting in with the rest of the team and Bones has always been here to pick up the pieces after Wheelers departure. 55 has always had his choice to make and we saw his mindframe at the end of the season. Committment? Does the team look committed right now? There’s your answer.

  21. Grant1972

They are a slower, older, and smaller version of their 2018 selves.

Back then they were known as a big and fast team. Now? Just average….

  22. ComprehensiveAlps652

What are they all butt hurt. Need a big hug,
    From big buck.

  23. Leajane1980

If this team was in a large market they wouldn’t be acting like this, that is the elephant in the room no one wants to acknowledge. The attitude is , this is just Winnipeg.

  24. osamasbintrappin

55 had got to go. It’s honestly embarrassing watching him play with the effort he’s putting in right now. Absolutely zero intensity.

  25. Rhythm-Malfunction

We had a head coach outright quit on us last season. When has a head coach ever quit on his team? That should have been a red flag and Chevy should have addressed it. It starts at the top

  26. xDRSTEVOx

We need to bite the bullet and admit its time to move on from Scheifele and Wheeler. They’re the two guys that have always been the big leaders in our room, and they’ve proven time and again that their leadership isn’t good enough. We need to basically reboot the locker room, with Jmo as captain, maybe even Bucky as assistant captain. They seem to be the only two players giving their all 100% of the time, whether we’re up 4-0 or down 4-0

  27. adagio63

How stale, flat and unprofitable seem to me the ways of these Jets.

  28. jesuswolf

It’s wild that PLD, “the guy who doesn’t want to be here” has been one of our most consistent players. I realize it’s a contract year for him, but still, he has always shown effort since the day he got here, and he doesn’t wear a letter.

  29. mynameisntalexffs

I am not anticipating a strong response from this. If they aren’t motivated to make the playoffs now, not much will change in the 10 or so games left in the season.

  30. ArferMorgan

If these princesses can’t get motivated for the millions of dollars they make, the least they could do is give the effort for the fans who put their hard earned money towards supporting the team. If not, healthy scratch then all. I’d rather see a team of AHL players giving their best effort than another game with these spoiled brats.

  31. ComprehensiveAlps652

Yeah that whole thing with buck was just weird. I wish they would have did it differently
