I went to grade school with his youngest daughter in North Delta way back in the day. He used to come to the school on special event days, dressed in his Flying V jersey, his goalie mask and go in goal for the kids at school Always a class act.

John and John are just so easy to listen to. They call the tense moments perfectly, they call the blowout games relaxed and with humour. They were never afraid to laugh or tell a joke, and it was always so clear how they were friends before coworkers. hearing Shorty start to choke up got to me.
I’m gonna miss this duo so much, and I hope Garrett knows how much the city loves him right back.

Super sad for us fans but I’m sure the constant travel for most of the year gets tougher the older you get. He deserves to enjoy his next decades with his family. What a legend. Huge shoes to fill. I don’t even want to imagine both John’s being retired…

I feel like such a jackass saying this but the Johns kinda feel like family. I’ve watched this team since I was born, and their voices are so familiar to me at this point that anything else would just be wrong. There’s a lot of love in my heart for the way they make this game sound.
