Mike Smith made a mistake playing the puck behind his net, but bailed himself out with a great save to keep the Oilers in it against the Jets.

  1. Overall Mike Smith is a very good goalie and I like him a lot. But when it comes to puck controlling, he has some problems.
Maybe he should give Marty Brodeur a call for some advice.

  2. I find the repeated criticism of Mike’s style entertaining. Here’s a guy with a somewhat unorthodox,no holes barred style of play that has made himself a top 50 all time goalie in; games played, wins, save%,GAA and S/O’s. He is the best puck handler in the game and has helped his team mates countless times with transition out of their zone let alone likely spared some of his d-men serious injuries. I rest my case. Can we move on from the criticism and focus on the 99% of what makes him great?

  3. Everyone talks about how good a puck handler Smith is but it seems like he botches it up literally a solid 25% of the time.

  4. I think this is the most mike smith play I’ve ever seen. Give up the puck on an easy play and then have to make a ridiculous save to make up for it.
