I was listening to some national media types talk about how the kraken have just been middling since the all star break. I don’t expect every national reporter to track the ins and outs of every team, but it shouldn’t be any surprise that a good team that suddenly loses their points leader (at the time) would not be lighting the world on fire anymore.
People seem to be treating the team like they stopped caring or were exposed somehow. But we lost a major offensive presence and there have been repercussions up and down the lineup. I just don’t know where the surprise comes in.

Before Burky went down we out scored opponents 61-45 (+16). Since then it’s been 68-65 (+3). If I’ve done the math wrong, feel free to correct me.

I’m getting worried that he isn’t going to come back until 2023-2024 *unless* it’s for the postseason. It’s very possible that we’ll end up missing out on a wildcard spot at this rate. Terrible timing for Matty’s concussion and Burky’s injury. Hm 🙁

I know a lot of people gave him shit because he’d cause turnovers trying to make plays, but clearly, what he was doing was working! Damn, we need him back!

It’s been a completely different team without him in the lineup. We also haven’t heard any positive news that he could be returning in a week or two, which begs the question….Should we have placed Burky on LTIR and made a trade for another forward at the deadline? It would have freed up some cap space and provided us with the opportunity to add to the team offensively by trading a 2nd or something reasonable. We saw a record number of trades this year with teams basically dumping players to get them off their cap. We all still hope Burky will be back for the playoffs, but we could have added some ammo while we waited for him to return if the injury was this bad.
