The craziest part of this whole thing isnt the fact that a highschooler ran a 44.74 or that he caught someone running sub 48 with a 3 second lead. its that he did it with 50 metres to go. only needed 350 metres to track him down

Just for reference, the leaders of this race came through 800m at 1:35. The world record in the 800m is only 5 seconds behind that time. This means two of the countries fastest 400m runners in HS were barely faster then one dude running a 800 by himself. World class speed is a different game
Almost as impressive as Boling's speed was his ability to not panic and stay within himself.
Most kids would have gone out too fast trying to make up the gap and ended up dying in the home stretch.
