Can’t win without a solid 1st line center l. Team should be blown up after this year regardless how they do in playoffs. Time this sub reddit accepted reality, that this team’s core is a massive failure. It’s time to get something while players have value. Then actually tank for a few years, instead of picking 7-14 every draft

So most likely, we ll trade him as a rental at the deadline next season to a contender. He essentially screwed us over and himself. He will tank his value for his next contract because Montreal will have complete leverage and can low ball him knowing he won’t sign anywhere else, he ll be making considerably less during the prime of his career.

I don’t know about you guys. But this entire season I’ve been under the impression PLD’s time here is limited and he is essentially a long term rental so this isn’t exactly news for me.
I don’t love how a guy is basically refusing to commit to any team that shows any faith in him and is willing to commit to him (CBJ and Winnipeg)
But at the very least I feel like he has committed to playing hard for us before he inevitably ends up in Montreal
This might be the first I’ve seen of a player going “nah, I’d rather be on a team that sucks than a good team”
This has become a anchor that has weighted down the Jets.
If I was Kevin Cheveldayoff, given PLD has one more year being a RFA, I would let PLD talk to other teams and take qualifying offers for PLD if another team wants him now. This way, we’ll know just how keen Montreal is in taking him given the price, we can ask for a draft picks as compensation.
Friedman literally has never broken anything regarding the Jets and consistently talks out of his ass on the podcast. 95% probably means less than 50%.

I don’t expect Dubois be on the Jets past next season, but the part I don’t understand is that I’ve heard him say multiple times that all he wants to do is win, missing the playoffs sucks, etc. Then why on earth is the only team he wants to play for the Habs?
This is just like when he attended the draft and all the experts said he was going to get traded.
He did an interview saying we went because his bank offered him a ticket to sit in a suite and he was a fan of hockey so he went.
Wouldn’t be surprised to see a package similar to Trouba. I could see it being Dubois and our 2023 3rd for Dvorak and Florida’s 2023 1st if Montreal wants to get the deal done this summer (and if that pick doesn’t win the lottery of course).
I’d love for Dubois to be moved strictly for futures, but I am not sure that management will be on board with the rebuild.

Honestly at this point, what can you do? I don’t fault him for not wanting to stay but having his agent outright say he’s basically not re-signing long term on top of that he’s only interested in signing with Montreal doesn’t do us any favours. If they kept it under wraps and didn’t make it public, it wouldn’t have completely backed us against the wall. It’s the Trouba situation all over again. It sucks. I hope they ship him sooner than later. I’d rather have someone like Nino or Namestnikov who’s actually interested in giving 100% taking up that roster spot.
This is such an embarrassment for the franchise. Just trade him this summer and start the rebuild. I don’t wanna think about the Laine/Dubois saga anymore.
