  1. Chicago fan here. Did Toronto win this one? 😅 lol silly question. McCabe was the only player in a hawks jersey registering a positive +/- this season, Lafferty beneficial in pretty much all situations.. four short-handed goals.. both players are really tough and won’t let any team intimidate or bully them.. although the Hawks are tanking for Bedard, these have been two key players in keeping the team respected this year. Congrats Toronto I don’t know what better pieces you could’ve found to increase your chances..

  2. Not a fan of this trade but I do like lafferty he’s always been a pain in the arse against us

  3. Looks like those Excel spreadsheets came in handy….lol….Dubas taking straight W’s at the trade front. Up to the team to deliver now….

  4. I HATE this trade just like I hate the O'Reilly trade and the Foligno trade. Sure the trade looks great now. they have added players. But does anybody now think the Foligno trade helped the Leafs. Foligno bolted after 1 round in the playoffs and the 1st round draft pick was gone. So we have NOTHING To show for our first rounder. The same will happen here. Three of these 4 players we have added will likley be gone and our many many draft picks are all gone. We have absolutely nothing in the cupboard. If the Leafs fail to sign Nylander, Matthews and Marner we have a dead franchise with ZERO draft picks until 2026. Thank you Dubas.

  5. PLAN THE PARADE BOYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. McCabe is a solid D and Laffy Taffy is a good 3rd or 4th liner that can score and adds depth hopefully you'll like them in Toronto. Hawks are rebuilding 🦅❤️ we got picks for days!!

  7. Like the move. McCabe fills most of the void left with Muzzin out indefinitely. Lafferty is a fast, pesky, spirited player, not afraid to get physical, and excellent PK specialist. With Murray soon coming off LTIR, looks like Leafs have to move about 2M in salary off the roster. Kerfoot, Holl, or Engvall are the obvious options to choose from. Have a feeling it's Kerfoot. At any rate, the Leafs just improved their chances of getting past Tampa. Going to be an amazing series (again)

  8. Saying Dubas’ job is on the line is such a stretch. He has done everything he can to get this team where they need to be. It’s on the players to succeed.

  9. Essentially this is the leafs throwing any and all future picks they have in the vain hope of having enough short term success that Matthews re-signs.

  10. Until the NHL addresses the garbage referrees and the favouritism the refs show both Boston and Tampa Bay, I don't see how The Leafs get out of their division. Hopefully the new toughness The Leafs just imported will help but, if they don't get some calls, I fear it's really all for naught.

  11. TOR only has one pick left in the first 2 rounds of the net 3 drafts. Dubas is really going for it. Do or die for him and the Leafs.

  12. You have to build an NHL from the ground up….that means you start building your BACKBONE from the beginning so your entire structure is SOUND AND SOLID AND SUPPORTED BY IT. Dubas inflated the truths around himself and was never qualified to build anything except Lego toys, he was and is clueless, Making this trade was a last gasp effort at inserting a Backbone into the Team before the 1st Round exit happens again. On "paper" maybe, but in real life you cannot give an NHL Club an identity with one poorly timed trade. Toronto missed their window where the NHL was over-promoting them as Canadas Team now McDavid has gone Supernova and forced the NHL to start supporting the Oilers as Canadas Team…Dubas is a fraud and he knew that window was there…like he knows its now closed….the NHL will not call penalties to support the Leafs anymore…its sink or swim…Dubas is making trades out of desperation instead of his usual lack of acumen. The Leafs will survive Dubas/Keefe/Shanny and when the deck is finally cleared of this current group of underachievers whats left of the Toronto Roster will finally have the Monkey off their backs and will begin to over-perform. Toronto is toxic right now because of Dubas and how he got where he is and what was done to keep him there and protect him from exposure. Dellow/Eakins set Edmonton back 5+ years in terms of development and Dubas has done much more damage than that in Toronto.

  13. So the Leafs are trading away first rounders for a bunch of SLUGS and the Rangers get Kane two draft picks to Chicago — a 2023 second-round pick, which carries conditions to improve to a first-round selection, as well as a 2023 fourth-round pick. The 2023 second-round pick will become a first-rounder if the Rangers make the Eastern Conference finals. I think we can see that DUFUS NEEDS TO GO!!!!
