Is Hampus Lindholm Having A Dark Horse Norris Season? | Hockey Numberized

Really good NHL caliber defensemen are hard to come by. For most teams, they develop their own from within and through the draft. As a result, the market for defensemen is, for the most part, rather slim. Maybe a few alright defensemen will become available, and even they will demand a significant return. But sometimes, a good defenseman will become available, and while it will cost a fortune to acquire them, it may just prove to be absolutely worth it.

Enter Hampus Lindholm, a defensemen who spent nearly a decade in Anaheim with the Ducks on their blueline, but dealt to the Boston Bruins at the 2022 NHL Trade deadline. It cost some pretty big draft capital, and an extension to boot, but it’s been a move that’s paid off in spades for the Bruins. He’s been a huge part of this historic run the Bruins are going on, and he’s been nothing short of fantastic since arriving. Offense, defense, you name it, he’s been great. He deserves to get some Norris trophy votes at the end of the year, even if he is a bit of a Dark Horse in the race.

  1. Lindholm should definitely be top of list for Norris trophy for Best D man in NHL!? Ya Karlsson is having a great season offensively but the award Is for best D man which should be someone who's great Defensively first but also chips in offensively often!? And Lindholm has Been great on D for Bruins and has also contributed to the offense a lot…there's a reason he's got best +/- of any D man!? When lindholm is on the ice there's a good chance he's not guna let other team score and will be looking to get puck up the ice and create offense for Bruins!?

  2. Lindholm always is and always will be an underrated defenceman. He's never really shined until recently but once he was on a good team, he exploded. If there were an award for defensive defenceman, the yearly winner would probably be McAvoy but Lindholm would finish top 10 every single year.

  3. I do think he is good but he does often frustrate me. I find he often doesn’t cover the man in front of the net. He’s a offensive defensemen.

  4. Lindholm wins the Norris. Ullmark wins the Vezina. Bruins win Presidents Trophy. Bruins win Stanley Cup.

  5. It's pretty crazy that Boston has 3 Dmen capable of playing well over 20 QUALITY minutes in all situations with McAvoy, Lindholm and now Orlov. There are teams that would kill to have just one…like the Leafs for example. 😁

  6. He’s having a great season , not sure how he stacks up , but a damn solid year

  7. Really good video, but work on your voice. Be more assertive and sure of your words

  8. Lindholm has been the Bruins best defenseman the whole season . Hopefully he will help their power play.

  9. I know plus minus is hardly a stat that counts. But all of these stats combined help show WHY he leads the league in plus minus

  10. The Bruins have 3 legit "#1" defensemen in McAvoy, Lindholm, and Orlov. Their depth is insane.

  11. It's too bad the Norris just goes to the defenseman with the most points. Lindholm's overall game has been drastically better than Karlsson this season, but we all know who wins the Norris. With the way the NHL judges "defensive" awards like the Norris and Selke, I'm surprised they don't just give the Vezina to the goalie with the most points too.

  12. Norris is all about points these days, actual defending skills are frowned upon. Karlsson winning this year will prove it.
