O’Reilly returns to Leafs practice: ‘We’re getting close… got to be smart’

Ryan O’Reilly was back at Maple Leafs practice on Friday but dawned a red non-contact jersey. He says his finger is feeling good with puck handling and shooting but it’s still hard to trust it during other plays like puck battles. He believes he’s close but doesn’t want to rush things and says ultimately the goal is to be ready for playoffs.

  1. With the Leafs playing so many D – men in their recent game lineups lately – does that mean he’ll just sit out so the extra D – men play in playoff games?

  2. There's no reason for him to rush there's still enough games left in the season for him to rest until he's 100%. I miss him but I don't want him rushed back !

  3. In all honesty I could see O'Riley actually waiting till the playoffs because the Leafs aren't going to catch Boston and their playoff opponent is basically sealed in Tampa but with Tampa faulting lately it's not as needed for him to come back

  4. Let me play a game or two before the playoffs to get the rust off. He will be ready come playoff time thou.

  5. All that for him to re join the team on the golf course after that quick first round exit. Sad!
