Seravalli on how the Oilers could sign Connor Brown or Max Pacioretty

When the NHL free agency period rolls around, every fan wants their team to grab the top guy on the market at whatever the may be. There have been many cases over the years where those big names that become available do not workout.
The Edmonton Oilers have had their fair share of them over the past few years. Milan Lucic was the number one player on the market when the Oilers signed him to an seven-year deal, which soon turned into a cap dump to the Calgary Flames. Jack Campbell is a more recent example; however, he does still have time to turn it around.

  1. Interesting information. Regardless though signing Pacioretty at his age coming off tearing the same tendon twice is asking for grief. Remember Stephane Robidas ? He was a veteran signed after breaking the same leg twice. Best to avoid injury prone vets no matter their cost.

  2. The guy wouldn't go back to Montreal .. so what do you think . the guy is poison in the dressing room . how long did he last in Vegas again . ?

  3. Sending a cap hit the next season isn't that attractive tbh. I get that winning in the short term is important but the Oilers are not an aging squad looking to go all in and then sacrifice the following year

  4. I'd try and sign Max on a show me contract. He's very talented. If his body holds up it could be a steal.

  5. I don’t know why people don’t want pacioretty. If he’s available and he wants to come here, you get him. Yeah he’s had injures but it’s not like he’s washed. Was on pace for 40 goals and 80 pts a year ago in Vegas. He gets injured, so what just burry him on ltir, it doesn’t hurt anyone. And just think if he’s healthy, that a elite top 6 fwrd right there to round out the best top 6 in the game already. You’d be stupid not to try and get max on this team🤷‍♂️
