  1. I don’t think a lot of people really understand just how appallingly bad the Sabres have been, to the point where them being this close to the playoffs is all I could have asked for as a sabres fan.

I might’ve done the math wrong, but the covid shortened year, they were on pace to miss the playoffs by 51 points. Right now Chicago is 35 points out of a playoff spot.

  2. The Sabres are playing meaningful games right to the end of the season that’s a huge improvement so there can be no major complaints by us Sabres fans

  3. I think both Buffalo and Nashville have equal chances as Winnipeg, Calgary, Phili, Pit, FL, and the Isles. All these teams are still way too close to call. Basically there is no room for error for any of them.

Seattle would have to take a serious noze dive.

I always like to look at wins above regulation loses rather than points because when teams have played different amounts of games the wins above regulation loses tells a better story.

  4. Right now the Sabres chances look slim, but if we beat Florida tomorrow, id say they have just as good a chance as the Panthers and Pens for the last wildcard spot.

If they lose against FLA its all over though.

  5. Now with the Red Wings not trying to lose games, for draft position. I think there coming home, with rookies trying to prove themselves, could make for some exciting hockey versus Buffalo. Nothing to lose. They can play spoiler against the Sabres.

  6. 🤞 here's hoping it isn't " one man in / one man out " 4 my Avs … replenishing the troops at the optimum time .

  7. Vasi turns into a machine come playoff time, he's a huge reason their Stanley cup winners, best goalie ever conversation.

  8. I do not see the Islanders falling out. Pittsburgh are vunerable given recent performances, but have a kind schedule. I think it is most likely they both maintain their playoff spots. I still think my Sabres will miss out by a point or two, but the ride has been fun.

Buffalo are 4-0-1 in their last 5 without Thompson who could be back against Florida. Florida v Buffalo is a big game tomorrow, the loser is probably out of the race.

You are right that the Sabres home record has been a problem. The other key issue in my mind is the record with/without Samuelsson, which is why Samuelsson would be my pick as team MVP. The defence is good going forward but needs plenty of improvement in our own end.

  9. Bowen Byram is huge for the Avs. Wish my Leafs could draft someone who can just keep raising their game when the going gets tough….

  10. I agree, Buffalo has a bit of a long road.. but with all those games in hand… mathmatically, they are right up to their neck in it. Still, 7 games in 12 days… uphill battle for sure.. but everyone below them needs ALOT of help.. Buffalo really can say, they can control their own destiny with only a bit of help. (Pit/Isles losing a game or two).. Ott and the rest are a few pts behind buffalo but also without the games in hand. That needs way too much help on top of winning out. For a Buffalo fan whose not seen playoffs since Mr. Miller patrolled our crease.. this is really a great year for the first time in a long time. Levi could actually be a difference maker.. He looks really good against a very good Rangers team. So we'll see.. tomorrow will set the tale going.. A Buffalo win and suddenly they are 2 pts back of Florida still with those GIH… of course a loss and things are looking bleak… I'll be happy if we are still in the conversation a week from today..

  11. Vasilevskiy has been astounding lately, really epic and heroic games. Good luck, Locked-in First-rounders Leafs . . .

  12. I don’t care if the Sabres get swept by Boston. Just breaking the drought would be enough

  13. Buffalo's chances are rough due to that eight-game pointless streak as much as recent losses to teams they looked unprepared and unmotivated to win against despite badly needing points (Columbus etc.) and their penchant for having trouble holding leads and being awful on face-offs has doomed almost any serious chance.

As satisfying as Levi's debut was he needs to be treated as a future savior; not one for this season. Play UPL as it's his time to see if he can handle the intensity of a slim Playoff chance. Comrie has fewer NHL starts despite being on the Jets roster for several years before being bounced around and back to them last year. Not having Tage healthy doesn't help at all.

  14. i swear drew sim is actually decent it’s just that the pats are brutal defensively

  15. If the Sabres some how squeeze in, that would be one hell of a story. The misfits coming in to play against one of the best regular season teams of all time

  16. I'm still amazed by the Avs up to this point.

Started off mediocre, then dealt a bad hand with injuries, and now here we are, battling for first in the division and what an amazing turn of events.

  17. I'm ready for our Captain to be back… After all, we haven't lost a single game that Landeskog has played in all season! 😉

  18. If the Sabres win out, not only will they defeat Florida (tomorrow), but they will end up with 95 points or so. They need help, no doubt, but they have a shot. Also that Levi kid looks pretty good. (Granted small sample size)

  19. For the Avs, its a big road trip, in California, while staying in the Bay Area for 4 days. It is team building. Lets not get over excited.

  20. My team may not be around to cheer for but this year I have players on multiple teams to cheer on. 2F, 2D, 4G.

  21. I'm a Flyers fan through and through. Also an NHL fan. I think the best spot for Bedard would be with the Coyotes. For the good of the league and that tormented franchise.

  22. I feel like Shannon is Immortan Joe from Mad Max, telling me "Do not my friend, become addicted to the possibility of drafting Bedard, it will take hold of me, and I will resent its absence." I'm going to watch Philly miss the top 5, and have him end up somewhere that brutalizes the Flyers for 15 years. And cringing, hoping that we finally develop a guy who turns out top notch.

Watching that Pens game last night and the numbers: here's all the times Crosby has scored on Philly, more than Jagr and Lemieux and Trottier. And I'm just sad that it's never gone the other way for a bit. A player that seemed to just dump on them every time they played for a decade+.

  23. If the Sabres hadn’t had that bizarre 8 game losing streak earlier in the season, they wouldn’t even be worried right now.

  24. Tickets for Regina Pats regular season final home game were going for $450 … concession sales in Saskatoon when they played the Pat's a few days before that…$200k. Unbelievable!

  25. Think the injured Avs are going on the trip more for team bonding reasons as it's the last big trip of the season. I would say a good chance of seeing Lehkonen on the trip and an outside chace of Francouz. Other than that they're still no timetable for return.

  26. Buffalo will make it, just need to take care of our business with Florida and go 5-0-1 and have two of Pens, Cats or Isles fall apart and Pens certainly are and Panthers goaltending could falter with Lyons in net, sure he won his last three games but he can't be trusted. Hoping for Isles to fall out cause no one wants their brand of hockey in the playoffs, it's boring, it was boring with the Devils and still is. Go Sabres!

  27. It really really feels like Tampa has won so much they don't care about regular season at all. They secured themselves into 3rd and just put the controller down. I know ppl probably doubt it at this point, but I think they're going just as far this year

  28. Does NHL need to put in an exceptional status for guys like Bedard in the future? He seems kinda wasted in the CHL when he could be already tearing up the NHL.

  29. A healthy Avs Team will dominate the Postseason😉💪🏻🙏🏻

  30. Hey y'all semi new hockey fan here I was wondering if someone could explain to me something.

When it comes to the last 2 teams fighting for the playoffs in a division how does it work. For example let's say one team is 30-40-12 and the other is 31-30-21 does the playoff spot go to the team with the most wins or does it go to whoever has the most points?
Sorry if it's a simple question still learning the ropes!
