I was 14, grew up in Laval, that year I was living in the LA suburbs wearing my PR#33 jersey to school nobody knew what that was until the SCF vs the Kings. Best playoff Spring ever!

Reigning champs of Canada ever since!

I can still name pretty much every player in this photo just by their face.
Now I can’t even name every active player on the roster even if their number shows in the picture.

I’ve always been super bothered by the equipment staff being front and center in this picture.. might just be me though..

My 14 year old self is somewhere in the back of that photo, waaaaaaaaaaaay up in the high arches of the old forum.
The result of me absolutely begging my father, who could not care less about hockey, to get tickets. He came home on a Friday and said “I got tickets from a friend for the game on Wednesday, but it says it’s game 5. How many times are these teams playing?” I honestly have no idea how he got them and from who.
I remember knowing there would be a game 5, because each team had won a game, but until a few days before did it dawn on my adolescent brain that I might actually see the Stanley Cup win.
It wasn’t until years later, maybe in my mid-20s, once my dad started getting into hockey a little more, that he told me “You owe me $700. That’s what I turned down for the tickets we had to that game”.

I was to young to stay up and watch, listened to the game on my clock radio, so quietly. I nearly woke the house up I was so excited they won.

Ten OT wins in a row, Roy couldn’t be beaten. The rest of the team defined clutch play, points from everyone, everyman had his man and McSorleys curved stick… Great series.

When they showed us this picture in the Centre Bell tour, the tour guide said this was almost 30 years ago, far too long, then saw my Leafs jersey and said, “But at least not as long as these guys.”

I was born in 92! So you knew it was a start to a good year lol. Also my favorite hockey memorabilia is a signed Roy Allstar jersey from that same year

Lord, I just realized how many fans have lived their entire lives without the Habs – or any other Canadian team – winning a cup. I turned 11 in 1993, and in those 11 years a Canadian team won 7 times. Sigh.
