[MacIntyre] Canucks aren’t the Hotel California. If players check out, coach Rick Tocchet will make sure they leave. After SEA loss, Tocchet: “It looked like some guys were just not into it. You can’t afford not to be into it. You’re trying for your NHL lives.”

Also from MacIntyre’s [article](https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/canucks-compete-level-questioned-by-tocchet-after-falling-flat-vs-kraken/) – Tocchet re: team’s effort against the Kraken after getting a day off:

    > “The energy level was not there after a day off,” Tocchet said. “That’s the alarming thing. I’ve got to take a look at that because if you have days off and guys don’t know how to prepare on days off, then I’m going to have to start babysitting a little bit more. That’s Hockey 101, coaches’ rules. If you can’t be professional on a day off and come in and have energy, then obviously you’re doing the wrong thing on a day off.”

Growing to like RT more and more with his attitude and statements. Yeah this style of coaching can sour the team (e.g. Sutter) but our team might really benefit from some sort of accountability directly from the HC

  3. Coach: “Guys! We have Season Tickets to sell! What are you doing? Work Harder! Our dear leader needs that money! Work Hard”

Players: “but doesn’t that hurt our team’s future chances at winning a Stanley Cup?”

Coach: “It doesn’t matter, its about setting the winning culture”

Players: “Umm sir…. this team has made the playoffs 1 time in the past 8 years…. I’m not sure a few mean-nothing wins at the end of year will change that…”

Coach: “Good point… But we still have those Season Tickets to Sell… Onwards men!”

    Players: “k…”

Fingers crossed for a Millsy trade this summer.

Dare I call this a *common* Tocchet W?

If there was ever a coach to make sure this team starts on time next season, Tocchet sure looks to be that guy.

So far I’m impressed by Tocchet. I was worried he would be another Torts/Keenan type but he’s been great with his statements to the media.

Honestly love Tocchet. I hope he runs all the shitty losing attitudes right out of town regardless who they are. Things will never change in this country club with out a coach calling them out.

Culture change is needed. And it requires hard decisions to be made. Even if they are not popular at first.

thank god. I’ve been watching these dumbasses (minus tyler motte) take half the games off for a couple years now, to the extent I was wondering if they all collectively did drugs on their non game days and were hungover when they play

  10. Our players need to be treated like children. I like what Tochett is doing. Treat it more like work.

It’s a good statement, but it’s a pretty easy threat to make when most of the lineup consists of AHLers, rookies, and guys who’ve been subject to trade rumors all season anyway.

I’ll be convinced that management is actually willing to back Tocchet if they jettison Boeser, Myers, and OEL even at a significant cost. This team’s failures don’t rest on the guys who’ve been forced to play up a slot or two because of cap mismanagement and a lack of depth.

Yeah this team for years hasn’t had the drive and falls apart. I hope they can add the right pieces to fix this issue.

God damn he is like Crawford thank fucking god!!!!!

The only reason we were sour on Tocchet was because of the way the Bruce saga was handled. Otherwise I like his general attitude and the direction he is trying to lead the team in.

  15. I wasn’t a fan of Tocchet being hired, but I’m liking him more every day. Maybe if he keeps speaking the truth, ownership may finally listen and let the hockey people do what they need to do to turn this around long-term.
