WHL Playoffs Roundup: Seattle Sweeps, Portland Pounding Everett, Tri-City Tied, Firkus Circus, Bedard Dominating

Following on my [earlier post about the WHL playoffs starting](https://www.reddit.com/r/SeattleKraken/comments/127rxaj/whl_playoffs_start_today_thunderbirds_winterhawks/), here’s an update on how things are going:

###Seattle Thunderbirds (4) vs Kelowna Rockets (0)

Seattle swept Kelowna out of the playoffs in a quick 4 games, outscoring the Rockets 14-4. Dylan Guenther (ARI 2021 9th overall pick) leads the team in scoring with 5g-2a-7p. Because the WHL re-seeds in the second round, we won’t know who they will face next until the other series wrap up but the first 2 games will be [Friday and Saturday next week](https://twitter.com/SeattleTbirds/status/1643839722710523906).

###Portland Winterhawks (3) vs Everett Silvertips (0)

Portland has pushed the Tips to the brink with a potential elimination game in Everett on Friday. Portland is winning with balanced scoring, with an incredible 6 different players tied with 4 points each. Meanwhile Everett’s offense has struggled and only scored 4 goals total.

Next game: Friday, April 7 in Everett

###Prince George Cougars (2) vs Tri-City Americans (2)

The most competitive series in the West has seen both the Cougars and Americans win 1 home and 1 road game each. This series could go 7 if they continue to alternate wins.

Next game: Friday, April 7 in Tri-City

###Connor Bedard Watch

Bedard is leading the entire WHL in playoff scoring and single-handedly dragging his team to a competitive series. He’s got 8g-5a-13p in 4 games, contributing to 13 of his team’s 18 goals (72%). His Regina Pats are tied 2-2 with the Saskatoon Blades.

###Jagger Firkus Watch

Kraken 2022 2nd round pick Jagger Firkus led his Moose Jaw Warriors to a 4-0 sweep of Lethbridge, and is 2nd WHL scoring with 4g-6a-10p in 4 games.

  1. This Thunderbirds team is special and they may never assemble a roster this talented ever again. Years from now, you’re going to want to talk about the time you saw Guenther, Lambert, Korchinski, Scheafer, Dach, and Allen (and maybe even Prokop, Gustafson, Crnkovic, Davidson, Ciona, Sawchyn, and Iginla) on the Thunderbirds when they’re playing for NHL teams.

If you’re a hockey fan in the Seattle area, get yourself some tickets!

I was at that first birds game, the comeback was incredible! I almost feel bad for Kelowna getting swept but honestly Milic deserves it. I feel so bad he wasn’t drafted and hope an ahl team takes a chance on signing him. He deserves a shot in the nhl some day

Spitfires are down 3-0, wonder if Shane comes back for a few games if they get eliminated today

  4. I watched most of what I could for the Seattle Vs Kelowna series. For a #1 vs #8 series, this was wayyy closer than what the scores showed. Kelowna played tough hockey and even led for some of the games up until the third period.

I hope the birds figure it out before they probably have to play a very tough Kamloops team in the finals of the Western Conference.

I feel like the Eastern Conference is truly up for grabs. Winnipeg are the favorites to win, but there are so many teams that could knock them off.
