My Reaction to Horvat’s Comment Regarding Canucks Fans

I wouldn’t have said it out loud, but I understand why he would feel that things are better with the Islanders. Here’s a link to an article which also has the clip in question: https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/horvat-on-islanders-crowd-during-playoff-push-its-a-lot-better-than-vancouver/

  1. He wasn't here during the cup run, so he doesn't know about fans during playoffs. Bitter resentment is going to work both ways. No more Bo Horvat, now we have Bo Villier.

  2. A jersey costs too much money for me to just throw one on the ice. Guess some people have it like that, must be nice 🤷‍♂️

  3. Canucks fans are the worst in the league. Shock who else burns their city down when they lose in the finals? Fire Gillis, throwing jerseys on ice. The list goes on!

  4. As far as players go, I really prefer to look at a whole season unless it is absolute garbage, even then, if they are under 25, I don't know how valuable one season is. JT Miller this year went from, garbage, he can't play center, oh my god we have this toxic asshole forever, his contract sucks all the way to one of the best two-way centermen in the league, winning a huge number of key faceoffs, and putting up over a point per game and driving play up and down the ice haha. Ya, we can blame the players directly this year for missing the playoffs I think, last year we could blame management, maybe this year the coaching staff as well, was Demko ready to play the season? I don't think so.

  5. Anyone slamming Bo for airing his real feelings about the spectators in Vancouver (they are not fans. Look up the word.); go to work get 5 people to stand around you and have them boo and shout how much you suck at your job.
It's different? He's an athlete? Still does not give you overly entitled a$$-hats the right to bully someone. Because that is exactly what it is.

  6. A great video that describes how fans and players feel about each other sometimes. If that makes any sense.

  7. Anyone who gets offended at Horvat’s comments, isn’t a true Canucks fan. Plain and simple.

  8. Great take! I would add that we don't know his subjective experince of the fans while he was out and about in his daily life. It's possible he and his family may have been getting a lot of animosity as a civilian which we don't know about. I would cheer him if I still went to games.

  9. I am perfectly happy if he likes it better on Long Island. We're not the ones paying 8.5m for 8 years for a rapidly aging middle sixer. We got Beau, and cleared the stage for Petey to get the C. The tradeoff was also J.T. Miller, who's improved under Tocchet. We're in a good place for another shallow playoff run next year

  10. I've only been watching THG for maybe 18 months.Doea anyone know who he was rooting for in that 2011 finals? I know he likes them both.

  11. Dude you made me actually laugh out loud in the beginning. I appreciate that thank you

  12. As a old time die hard Oilers fan…. Im playing the worlds saddest song on the worlds smallest small violin. Suck it up buttercup.

  13. Whatever else you say about it, it was classless. He was the captain of the team, you would NEVER hear that Linden, the Sedins, Naslund or any other captain Vancouver has ever had. I lost a ton of respect for him and I'm not sure he was ever the leader we assumed he was.

  14. I do not understand the wailing. The host asked him “How does this rank for you in playoff pushes, the excitement of this building and the fans involvement over the last couple of games?” Of course the fans are excited about getting into the playoffs. He has not experienced that kind of playoff excitement in Vancouver because there has not been any playoffs in the time he has been in Van city to get excited about. Sports media in Vancouver need to take a chill pill. Absolute trolling on their part.

  15. I don’t know why ppl even care. He was such a non factor during his time in Vancouver. He was only made the Captain out of lack of talented players. He was a terrible captain and probably hated being the captain. He was a cancer in the dressing room and just a shitty person in general. The team was never happier then the day they got rid of him.

  16. Ok real talk – it's not just Canucks fans/media that are toxic, fans/media in CANADIAN MARKETS IN GENERAL are toxic. Lose a few games in a row at home and fans are calling for everybody's heads. It's ridiculous and it should be called out.

  17. I don't blame Bo either, and yes, I am still a Horvat fan, wish he would have been picked up by Detroit!

  18. Don't worry Bo, when things go south in New York city you're going to find out how great fans are there. They have tremendous patience and never act like an angry mob. 😉

  19. When Vancouver fans watched the team lose in 1994 and 2011 Stanley cup final they rioted. Fans taking to the streets in hordes, looting and damaging buildings and setting cars ablaze. That's the response. If they go to the final again and don't win I guarantee it will be a 3 peat on the riot.

  20. As a lifelong Canuck fan, dating back to the mid 70’s, I wasn’t offended by his comments. I get it, he didn’t want to be traded. Canuck front office, as usual, bush leagued it.

  21. Don't overlook the fact that Horvat quit playing for the team and focused on lifting his scoring stats. It feels like you are making excuses for him.

  22. If Horvat is mad at ownership and management, that's totally fine by me. But to call out the fans like that, not cool. We supported him for years under this mess of an owner and front office bullshit. To call out the fans like that was not right.

  23. I know this is your team (who doesn't?), but I got to the point where I just skip over anything on the board about the Canucks. It's like I'm in a Reddit thread with all the rumors, post game interviews, and locker room talk that hits your news of the day, unlike what you get into with any other team. I love the game. You love the game. And I might commiserate with my brother about how the hell the Gophers pissed away a 2-goal lead, but winning or losing doesn't matter when I wake up the next morning.

  24. Blaming fans is bullshit, team performance is a reflection of the team. That would be Bo, his team, and his team management.

  25. I tried the ninja dust thing with my wife during an argument, did not work as well as advertised….. Oh boy

  26. The amount of introspection that this season has brought upon the Canucks can only be described as tiring , wishing them a speedy recovery , it may be rude to say , but get good , fans dont care about who is right for captain when a team is winning , Trouba for NYR was boo'd the first game too but this season has made NYR fans forget that

  27. On the Steve Dangle channel (Big Leafs Fan), he recently said, in his own hilariously boisterous way, "i am going to admit something. It's really, really stupid, but I'm starting to believe again. I know that means pain. (shouting now) Are you ready for the pain? I can't wait for the pain!" This is how Leafs fans look at the playoffs after around 20 years not winning a first round series.
