The Red Wings absolutely need to bring back Dylan Larkin #nhl

  1. Maybe Larkin could take a bit of a discount for the same reasons you mentioned to build a great team around him

  2. Bring him back from where? He never left Detroit and Yzerman has no intention of trading him…

  3. He's not worth 9 million. Unless he gets this group to the playoffs. Then maybe. But he's an 8 mil player at best.

  4. Also of rather have two 1st round picks than an over paid 9 million dollar player for 8 years.

  5. I agree with the video. Yeah Larkin is not a generational talent, but he's truly the heart an soul of this team. I can't see him being traded.

If he does decide to not sign with Detroit I think he's going to have a hard time getting the money he wants from a team that is already a cup contender. They would already have the pieces they need and money tied up in those assets.

So that leaves going to a team that is an up and coming team. So outside of doing it just for the money how would that situation be any different than staying in Detroit? I think how this situation plays out will be determined by what happens with the playoff push. If they make the playoffs and steal a series or take the series to 7 games I think it'll make the choice to offer him what he wants easier. He might even be willing to take a discount if the team has a good playoff showing.

The Wings are close and Yzerman has the rebuild moving the right way.

  6. See you put way to much on one player we can loose him and win the cup easy he is not un replaceable

  7. Why would you even vaguely suggest that Steve Yzerman would not do what is absolutely best for the Red Wings? I would love to see Larkin stay, but, if, for any reason, Stevie Y decides to turn him loose, it would have to be for a very good reason. I personally do not believe it’s going to happen.

  8. Larkin is a top 2nd Line Center for sure…
Losing him won’t hurt for too long…I’d rather have more Yzerman Draft Picks, and Yzerman Picks in General…
Zadina is a bust too… what a joke he is!
Almost everything Holland related is gone now!!! Whoooo!!!! He sucks in the Salary Cap era.

  9. I think Yzerman understands the value of not thinking the unthinkable is an not an option -if that makes sense. There was a time when people thought Yzerman could be traded, even though is was borderline unthinkable. There was also a time Stamkos might have been traded. The idea of things turning out a certain(like a missed opportunity to be part of a great team) way makes people more pliant toward a common goal, particularly when it comes to contracts. He'll spend when he has his band. But for now, nobody can be safe.

  10. Larkin was a rookie 6 years ago. Yes, he's good. But, if you know that you're at a team in a rebuilding stage. Why would Demand $9,000,000 to stay. Why couldn't you take the 7.5- 8 million a year. But no, let's be greedy. You survive on 8 million a year, REALLY, but yet all the fans, who are coming to the games, and are most likely making less than $100,000 a year, but still come and spend on average between parking, tickets, $10 beers, etc. They are paying for your salary. But you're making millions for 8 months.!! What are bitching about.
