Avs Potential 1st Round Matchups. Possible Line Combos. Avs Reveal Playoff Motto.

Nothing has been set in stone just yet, but we have a relatively good idea of who the Colorado Avalanche could face off against in the 1st round of this year’s playoffs. Could it be the Seattle Kraken? Or could it be the Minnesota Wild? Do we even have a preference between those two?

We also take a look at the potential line combinations for round one with the assumption Artturi Lehkonen will be ready to go.

Finally, the Avs revealed their motto for the postseason. “One Way, Our Way”. Do we like it and how does it compare to past playoff mottos?

  1. The Kraken are my second favorite team so that match-up is what im rooting for personally, i just DO NOT want the kings and their BS neutral zone trap

  2. Lehky – Mack – Rants
    Nuke – JT – Erod

    Nieto/Eller/Malgin
    LOC/Helm/Cogs

Newy mix and match if no Helmer, Meyers, [Landy] as spares.

    Toews – Cale
    Manson – Bo
    Sammy – EJ
    JJ and Hunt

    Georgie
    Frankie
    JJ/Big KK

Dependent on injuries, you have to have confidence in this roster going into Round 1. If we get further, then better chance for Landy and some momentum.

Going to be a fight tape to tape this year, let's go Avs!

  3. Our motto this year should just be "Resilience," which is also one of my favorite As I Lay Dying songs. 🤘

  4. My line combos
    MIKKO-MACK-NUKE
    EROD-JT-LEHKY
    COGS-ELLAR-LOC
    NIETO-NEWHOOK-HELM
Reason I'll start Malgin on the bench, is that Newhook is a center which cant be replace if center goes down or kickout in game day. He plays can play a simple style bottom 6 role or evaluate his game if need due to injury to top 6 with speed, but can offer up the unknown safer then Malgin. Malgin style can give u a good replacement if u may need a top 6 fill in. Other then that it's Newhook, plus u got invest in ur future top 6

  5. Main concern for the Avs for these playoffs is physicality. Landeskog and Manson are the Avs most physical players and it’s such a key piece during the playoff grind. I know it’s very possible they both go but are they going to be able to be the guys they need to be? Manson was a beast when he came back but quickly got re-injured. Landy hasn’t played a game so if he does go, how does his body hold up not being in game shape? Would be nice to win out and have the Kraken sweep Vegas their last two games to give the Avs a matchup vs the Jets. Considering it’s unlikely, playing Seattle, Dallas or MN (possibly LAK) are all tough matchups so don’t really care which one it ends up being. To win out, Avs need both Cale and Byram back tonight or it could get ugly quick against the Oilers.

  6. Without the 6 injured players, it will be very difficult to beat a team like MIN or DAL. So far, not a word on when Makar or Manson, or Lehkonen will return. I watched a video last week from Landeskog, you can forget that he will be available before a possible Conference final. Right now, the Avs should hope and pray for SEA to be their opponent in round 1, otherwise, I see them having a huge problem winning against MIN or DAL. Do not be fooled, DAL is a much better team than the one who beat the Avs in the playoffs some years ago. To defend the cup this year will be much, much harder than last year, and without the injured 6, especially Makar and Manson, I do not see it.

  7. After the April 10th games, Flames are eliminated. Jets have the tie breaker. Preds are still in it on a prayer. Jets have to lose all games in regulation and Preds win all games and both play the Avs and the Wild as their final 2 games.

I'll take an unproven, inexperienced Kraken team all day over a Wild team with something to prove and goaltending capable of pulling off playoff magic. Gustavsson has been unreal for the Wild down the stretch and Flower can do some silly things in the playoffs.

  8. Mikko-nate-lehkonin
    Nuke-jimmothy-malgin
    Cogs-eller-loc
    Erod-newhook-nieto

The question is, who do you ditch if Landy comes back?

  9. The line combinations don't matter. The Top 6 are all interchangeable and so are the bottom 6. Because of all the injuries, all these guys have learned to be comfortable with each other. The only positions that are set are the centers. MacK 1st line, J.T. 2nd line, Lars 3rd line.

  10. I think we match up better against Seattle right this second. Minny plays heavy physical hockey and assuming we're down Manson and Landy for the first round, I wouldn't want to tangle with them until we can potentially get healthy. I will say, I don't anything to do with the Kings this year at all.

  11. Come on you guys. The motto should be .. "There can only be one". It even has a Queen song to support it.

  12. All I know is that the JT line from the past few games absolutely deserves to stay together, especially if they continue at the level they're at for these last few games. If Lehky comes back, bump ERod down to 3rd line tbh. He can outskill 3rd liners, or complement our superstars, but 2nd line he just seems to disappear
