20 NHL Seasons, 4 Stanley Cups, 7 Norris Trophies, 2002 Conn Smythe Trophy Winner (Playoff MVP), and has never missed the playoffs. Certainly a Hall of Fame career.

  1. A play that I wish was included:
1997 playoffs vs Colorado, round 3, Game 2. The puck gets by Vernon and is going in the net but Lidstrom has his stick there to swat it away. Wings win that game, win the series in 6 and go on to win their first cup in 42 years.
Also, you shouldn't have stretched the picture on the older non HD clips, those should have been left in their 4:3 ratio.

  2. Well, that's going to be apain in the ass to write unless you're from Scandinavia. We're only ones, as far as I know, who have ÅÄÖ in the alphabet. I know the Germans have Ö sometimes but, not much more than that.

  3. You'll have a hard time finding any European defensemen with a career much like Lidströms. A great leader for the wings, and a great father. He truly is Mr.Perfect!

  4. It's funny how red wings won the playoffs in 2008 vs pens and in 2009 pens vs red wings in the stanly cup finals and pens won it

  5. What a fuckin shame at 7:40!

"Nicklas LiNdstrom"… if you are a presenter at such an event, the least you can do is to know a little bit about the big players in business. ARGH!!

  6. Lidstrom was the most skilled and arguably best overall defenceman of all time! Bobby Orr was a trailblazer, but this guy took the game to another level and consistently put up stats to back my argument.

  7. I never thought the transition from the almighty Steve Yzerman would be smooth but this swede was born to lead.

  8. People who think Bobby Orr is a better defense man than Lidstrom are insane. Orr played against nobody good, played for only like 9 years, and was essentially just a forward who was labeled as D on the lineup sheet.

  9. Lidstrom should have won one more Norris Trophy. They gave it to Chris Pronger because Lidstrom was "fortunate to play with Larry Murphy".

  10. Shame it couldnt say "Lidström" as his real last name, not Lidström when they engraved in the name

  11. As a lifelong Wings fan, I miss this guy. Lidstrom was just so consistent, so determined and just so damn good! Thanks for the memories #5!

  12. the "Lidstrom Slapper"…. 85-90 mph, never more than about 8" off the ice and it never seems to dip.. it's like a UFO. LOL
