I’m curious what you all think. I really like the idea of building through the draft even though it can be grueling and hard to watch. The silver lining for me is watching these young guys come into their own and wearing the jersey from the start. I just think that if we have enough shots in the top 10, elite talent will come. The top cup contenders seem to have 1 superstar in every position on long term contracts & then 2-3 more star forwards, another 1D and a good backup G unless it’s Vasy in Tampa. I’m kind of okay just being patient to find our homegrown superstars, but curious about everyone else’s opinion?

Feel like it’s really understated how bad Holland was at the end with drafting and how screwed we got in the lottery. Being able to pick a Hughes or a Stutzle this team would look very different. Also Ken missing with Zadina, and Veleno. And I hate to say it because he’s quickly become one of my favorite players, but picking Ras over Suzuki or Vilardi is looking rough too and again, we’d look very different right now with any of those guys being our 1C/2C/ with Larkin. I think that’s why I’ve been looking at the rebuild restarting with Yzerman.
Edit: I wanna add that it’s totally possible Ras has a breakout year and turns out to be just as good of a pick as the other guys I mentioned points wise. And if he does he’ll be more valuable with his size. But only time will tell
