@San Jose Sharks

This is a BIG DEAL

With the 2022 2023 season coming to an end and the NHL seeing a 90’s like resurgence in offence, most of my recent videos I have had to cover some of the many incredible feats this year. 63 wins for the Bruins, McDavid hitting 150 points, 2 60 goal scorers in Pastrnak and McDavid, the Oilers having 3 100 point players and today, I have one last one. Erik Karlsson just did something that hasn’t been done in over 3 DECADES. He hit the 100 point mark as a defensemen for the first time in 31 years at age 32. This makes the oldest defensemen in history to hit 100 and just the 6th defensemen EVER to hit it in what has been a career year for him. The San Jose Sharks played the Jets last night where he was 2 points shy coming into the game so I cover the game, Karlsson’s accomplishment and more in todays NHL hockey video!

  1. Made sure i made it to this game, incredible achievement and an under rated season forsure because of how bad the sharks have been

  2. Been a SJ fan since 98 and Karlsson fan since 08 so it was definitely an emotional and extremely happy celebration watching this milestone happen

  3. I swear to God if he wins the f**** Norris I'm going to be furious after they screwed Josi last year.

  4. Karlsson was robbed of another Norris when Doughty's agent pulled every dirty trick in the book to get votes for Doughty who was never Norris level.

  5. unfortunately, the game that a team has to play to allow a d man to score like that is a losing system. like ottowa was when he was there and now like the sharks, like it or not that's the truth. not trying to take anything away from the guy, he's talented for sure, just not defensively.

  6. Bobby Orr's best season is still 30+ points better, even with era adjustment considerations. That being said, Orr had Phil Esposito to pass to. Karlsson doesn't have much help out there.

  7. I watch a few channels like yours and I find it kinda crazy how just the other day miko on the Avs got 50 and no one said anything and now him and Nate dog are both 100 point scorers on the season and no one has said a thing miko gets like no love from anyone

  8. It's an amazing achievement. He's definitely showing himself to be one of the most elite offensive defenseman of all time.

    He's still a pylon though.

  9. Karlsson 100 points.. Nuge 100+ points and McDavid 150+ points. This season has been crazy.

  10. I'm always irritated when people start naming the greatest players in the world or greatest all time and all the players they name are forwards who score a lot of points… as a guy who grew up playing defense, I'll never forget the year I hadn't scored a goal all season as a defenseman, then I got moved up to forward for 2 games and I scored 2 goals, those were my only 2 goals that year. There are exactly 6 different players who've had 150 pts, all forwards obviously and only 6 defensemen who've had 100, showing you just how impressive this feat is for a defenseman!

  11. that most of the D who posted those numbers are – on the plus minus. I think just this is a decent example of why the Norris shouldn’t be based on points exclusively

  12. gotta say you hit it perfectly, as a sharks fan the only good thing this year to watch has been Karlsson! the departure of Burns really opened things up for him to be the main d man in san jose, i think 100 point mark has all but locked him for the Norris this year

  13. McDavid scoring a ton when the team was bad didn't get too many awards. What's so special about a puck hog on a crap squad?

  14. Overrated, one dimensional player -21 this year, -98 career.

A minus every post season except one.
Couldn't find his own end with GPS.

  15. There'll be four big stories this season. The Oilers and McDavid's season, the Bruins season, the Cup winner, and Karlsson.

  16. Sens fan here. Still miss Erik but I'm glad to see his resurgence this year with an amazing season! Still a fan!

  17. The get 100 points with a crap team like the Sharks? Makes it all the more impressive.

  18. Offensively gifted but a bit of a liability defensively. It's much easier to make the decision to join an offensive rush when your team sucks and really have nothing to play for but padding your stats.

  19. I'm confused about the +/- stat you said at the end, how is it possible that his team's +/- with him on the ice is different from his actual +/-?

  20. At first, Norris talk sounds crazy at -21. But take those minus points off Karlsson's total and he would have 79 points. No other D has 79 points. And on a team as bad as the Sharks?

  21. Meh, he's good if he plays on a bad team that will let him take risks and dominate the puck. That's why he sucked in SJ before when he had to play with structure.

  22. We also need to discuss how Karlsson is literally the only brightspot on this Sharks team. Previous d-men with 100+ point seasons have done that with great companies. Those d-men have played in cup contender teams with teammates that have been able to score 100+ points too. Karlssons highest point teammate isn’t even at 70 points this season. This is HUGE.

  23. I think you’re misunderstanding the age tweet. He’s not the 4th oldest player of all time to get 100 points, he’s the 4th oldest of all time to reach 100 points for the first time.

    Still insane though.

  24. Good for Karlsson, nice to see. But can we not glaze over Bobby Orr, his 139 points…and more impressive, his plus 124!!, playing against the other teams best, always on the penalty kill…

  25. I love Elkholm, but imagine if the oilers had Elkholm and Karlsson! Wow… What I love about Karlsson is that he is a class act through and through! Wonderful accomplishment!

  26. It has been insane season. 11x 100+ points, 2x 60+ goals and 100+ points for a defenseman. It is literally nuts

  27. That's not how you evaluate +/-… his -21 is the 6th worst on his team. With that said, he should still win the Norris, that's not a question.

  28. Great player Erik is. A shame that he is wasted on the San Jose Sharks. The Sharks have a long road back from their previous GM.
