I think Hakstol absolutely gets credit in part for this strong season. You see it in games where we start off with bad 1st periods and then come back and win. You see it when he breaks the flow with a time out. It’s clear he gives good advice, he motivates the players and when it gets implemented our play goes from 2021 Kraken to 2022 Kraken pretty quickly.

I have it on good authority from some Flyers fans that he *checks notes*: “is the worst coach ever and actively tries to ruin young players’ careers. Just look at what he did to Shane Wright.”

If anyone thinks Hakstol doesn’t get a big part of the credit for this, they don’t know how teams work. Everything starts with the environment that the coach establishes. The players buy in or they don’t. The players have clearly bought in to Hakstol’s system.

This year he’s been much better with switching up lines. Some combinations that don’t really seem like they should work to my mind, just pan out.

I think he’s done a good job keeping Grubauer’s confidence up. It seems like his save percentage has been steadily improving since his injury. He also gives up less fluky 1st period goals than before.
