[Gallagher says in hindsight he shouldn’t have played on the broken ankle, that’s he’s going to have to be smarter moving forward.](https://twitter.com/EricEngels/status/1646891401316126721?t=6-7ig7lHlFfbyq-KP1APQQ&s=19)
[“In my case, I gotta be honest, I block a shot and I go in there and am I being totally honest? Probably not.”—Brendan Gallagher, who says medical staff can only go on info they get. “We’ll never put the blame on them. As players, we’ve just gotta do what we can do…”](https://twitter.com/EricEngels/status/1646898717067210754?t=-tsOctIdkxxM_E2goosQfA&s=19)
pretty unbelievable that he is allowed to play on a broken ankle… I thought he realized that playing hurt is more than liability but here i am proven wrong
Being “too tough for your own good” is a nice way of saying “idiot”.
Hockey contracts are fully guaranteed, at a certain point why even risk playing with such an injury? You’re risking your post-career health.
Worshipping toughness is fine, but it’s frequently taken too far.
Sounds like he finally caught a break.
I’ll see myself out.
Medical staff and management signing off on guys like Gallagher and Monahan playing with broken bones, and we’ve been wondering how the Habs have set man-games lost records two years straight.
I know these guys are tough and in the case of Monahan he was worried about his next contract, but at the minimum there should be a better policy on playing with fractures.
He was so slow at the beginning of the season that I was convinced he was done. I bashed on him a lot and I feel guilty a bit now, but he shouldn’t have been playing. The last couple weeks of the season that he played he looked like he picked up a step and I was pretty happy. Hopefully he can stay fucking healthy and provide that leadership he’s known for.
What a pecker head. Playing on a broken ankle. Misère.
you’re sick Brendan, I love you but you’re sick
Fire everybody.
Complete negligence. What was the upside to having injured players play in a rebuilding season? A few meaningless wins.
Ankle is a long ways from the heart – Gallagher probably
Might be the most Brendan Gallagher tweet I’ve ever read.
Also no way in hell should the team’s medical staff have let him play on that.
