Avalanche Beat Jets, 4-2. A Win Against Preds Gives Them Division. Landeskog to Miss Entire Season.

The time frame kept getting pushed back and in the back of our heads, we all thought the inevitable was possible. And before puck drop Thursday night against the Winnipeg Jets, the Colorado Avalanche and Gabriel Landeskog made it official. The Captain won’t play at all this year, regular season or playoffs due to the knee injury and surgery he has been dealing with for some time now.

But if there is anything this team this year has shown, it’s toughness. And the Avs will have to have that without one of the toughest guys on the team in Landeskog.

Despite all the injuries throughout this season, the Avalanche are on the verge of taking the division. A win over the Nashville Predators Friday night would secure that.

A lot to cover on today’s episode! Tune in, subscribe and enjoy!

  1. I was at a rehearsal for a wedding I’m shooting tomorrow when the news came out today. Heartbreak. Instant heartbreak. I’m not surprised, but man did that ever take the wind out of my sails. It’s a good thing the boys won tonight because I was in a foul, foul mood when I got home. If they’d have lost to Winnipeg’s C squad I would have been just irate.

Get well soon, Gabe. Avs nation misses you intensely. 😔

  2. Because the didn't go with LTR I was seriously hopeful that he was coming back. So super sad to see that not happening. My big question is Manson because I feel like we really, really need him for the playoffs.

  3. In planet of the apes, when Charlton Heston figures it out at the end….
    "God damn you!"
How I felt when I heard about Landeskog

  4. I had no idea this injury was going on since the bubble year back in 2020 with Landeskog. He even said he played through the pain just to get the cup last year. What a champion. I sure hope this isn't very long term but it sure seems like it will be. This team and injuries, my god. It just really sucks. But right now the boys gotta band together and try their best at these years playoffs. Go Avs!

  5. Makes the decision to not use his cap space to do more even more baffling-especially if theyve known for over a month,as Mckinnon said. Theyve earned the benefit of doubt, but some of us were right in 2021,that the disastrous Nemeth/Sodurburg deadline would cost em.

As for tonight…they dont ask how-only how many. Good thing, cuz that was a bs effort vs a bad backup goalie,& team smartly resting its stars.Winning the division guarantees nothing,& being 2nd doesnt remotely doom you. But it would give ya a bit easier path-we need all the advantages we can get now. Id never count out the resilient deffending champs. But if i had to bet,i see an Edmonton-Colorado wcf rematch…but i dont see it going our way this time in 6…but we shall see.

  6. In a weird way im kind of relieved, i didnt want him to rush back and push for the playoffs and end up doing even more damage.
Also Klay Thompson was out 2 and a half years and has gotten back pretty close to what he was before. We have come so far from even the 90s in terms of surgery and PT, Landy will be back to at least 80 percent of what he was at some point

  7. At some point you all need to quit chalking up ALL of the Avalanche injuries YEAR after YEAR to "bad luck". They are poorly conditioned and fragile. It stems from a poor strength and conditioning program. S&C coach Casey Bond does not produce good results.

  8. The Gabe situation reminds me a lot of the Gary Robert’s case,,, he had to completely stop for almost 2 years and then came back for another 6 to 7 years,,, I just hope he does come back eventually,,,

  9. Trade Landy in the draft to free up cap and get a second center for next season in FA. Go Avs Go
Lekhy with a goal on his first game back was 🔥

  10. Very sad to hear about Landy sounds like he may have damaged it more to get that cup. I hope it’s not career ending. I hope they do not let him sit on LTIR again all next year. Need to get some more opinions in off season to get the real truth. I hate seeing players get side lined to injuries. But as, Shaggy said only so many times you can fix something before what your fixing starts remaining broken. Ask Greg Oden

  11. Newhook had a nice assist on the Malgin goal to hit 30 pts again. He's not missed a game all season. Even if Helm came back, I'd sit Nieto or Malgin before 18.

  12. Never mentioning injuries again after my Cogs comment yesterday 🤦‍♂️ Just a “get better soon Landy”. And is it just me or did the ice seem off last night?

  13. So sad to hear about Gabe, but what can you do? Let him get healthy and lets go get a cup for our Captain! Now lets go get the Central tonight and look foward to the Playoffs! #GoAvsGo

  14. EJ filling in at C would be very much along the Sylvan Lefebvre filling in for Captain Joe when he was out for a season basically.

  15. It was no surprise to hear from the captain yesterday. Anyone who knows a bit about the knee procedure he had, 6 months is by far not enough to recover so far to be able to play in this tough sport. Be not be fooled, only the fewest of athletes will be able to come back completely fit to play again. I would also not be surprised if later this year a worse announcement from Gabriel Landeskog might come. I wish him all the best and love to see him come back, but be warned, it can turn out worse.

  16. I have mixed feelings about the Landeskog situation. The news is horrible but, also extremely frustrating. We should’ve played the ltir game when we knew he wasn’t coming back in February. It sucks having our captain injured and it sucks feeling like the injury has been mismanaged.

Sound check📣 One For the Captain – Cromdale
We just need 1 more win to claim the division title. Let’s get it there and do it for our captain.

  17. Bittersweet night for me last night. Got to take my girls to their first game, but bummed that Landy won't be back this season. Happy they got the win and hopeful that Gabe will make a full recovery at some point

  18. The Landeskog news is terrible, but it won't be the first time the Avs have been in the playoffs without their star Swede. Hopefully it will be the same result as last time!

The result of this game was pretty predictable. One to bury the Perds!

Soundcheck: Local heavy metal legends Jag Panzer with "Take To The Sky", because it's about jets. That's all I got. They're super underrated, their original guitarist actually left and joined Megadeth for a while and is now with In Flames. Cool guy all around.
