Nothing against you for posting, but this site is pretty widely regarded as poor journalism, to put it nicely. Click-bait and knee jerk conjecture, to put it accurately.

Personally I think it’s unlikely that Ruff doesn’t put Blackwood in net during the playoffs.

The only thing worse than Blackwood is Pucks and Pitchforks

Also, Pucks and Pitchforks supports the genocide of Red Eyed Tree Frogs

  4. Why are people saying they’d be surprised if Blackwood doesn’t come in for playoffs? Schmid is the clear #2 and anyone who hasn’t realized that by now is coping HARD for Mack. Sure he’s had his moments but I can only pray that we don’t see him in the playoffs

I was down to give Blackwood a bounce back chance this season. He really hasn’t been able to take advantage of his opportunities when vanacek and schmid both have risen to the occasion. It sucks because I think Blackwood is talented, but he probably should not ever see a devils crease again.

I hope so,I’m so tired of 35 ft wrist shots being blown past him without MacBlack even flinching

I really don’t hate Blackwood. He gets a lot of unnecessary hate. With that out of the way, I have a hard time coming up with an argument for him to stay on the team. Injury prone, horrible rebound control, and terrible with the puck on his stick. It’s just really hard to have faith in the guy. Schmid has played really well this season, and is almost certainly going to get better as he gets more ice time. A Vitek/Akira duo is very hard to argue against right now. Who knows maybe Blackwood gets time in the first round and turns out to be a playoff god lol but other than that it’s time for him to walk.

I don’t know how true this is, this is a fan blog basically, but he should not see the ice in the playoffs. Had tremendous potential, but his rebound control is awful and he lets in so many soft goals, not to mention all the injuries. Maybe he’ll go somewhere else and find his game, but it’s unfair to Schmidt to not have him as the backup for Vitek in the playoffs with how well he’s played this season.

2 quick first period goals against Boston and 3 quick first period goals against Washington Blackwood gave up. We had every opportunity to beat Boston as Mack locked it down the rest of the game, however this will kill all of our momentum in a playoff game so it’s Schmid’s backup spot to lose. I don’t want to see Blackwood until then or there is an injury (hopefully not)

And just like his other shot, he decided not to take it

As the last decade has proven 3rd string goalies can make a difference in long playoff runs
