Colorado Avalanche win the Central Division behind monster Nathan MacKinnon performance

The Colorado Avalanche win the Central Division almost exclusively because of Nathan MacKinnon. MacKinnon’s hat trick on top of an early Devon Toews goal was just enough for Colorado. With the regular season in the books, The DNVR Avalanche Podcast appreciates the war the team went through.

  1. looking at avs injuries this year my question is what the fuck they feed guys in tampa😂 cause being 3 years in row in a stanley cup and all the guys played 82 games is crazy

  2. You guys mentioned Macs unworldly pace since Jan,& the 42 goals,111pts…but you didnt mention he did that missing 11 games! He basically was 49 goals,& 128 pt pace,if he played 82. Hes basically Drasaitils stats over 82 games. But though I disagre sometimes with you all,& iritate ya sometimes-your hard work, knowledge,& commitment is appreciated. You guys do a great job,& have a fun-but difficult job.

But as we move to the playoffs, you did a great job of pointing out how amazing this reg season really is. Not just the 3rd most man games lost this yr,but the most injured deffending champ in like 3 decades. And we all know the caliber of players that missed most these games. As you said,Dallas ought to be ashamed. Even their 80 games or whatever-werent to their top guys. Minnesota had some signifigant injuries,& adversity. Not on the Avs level, but still signifigant. Its 1 reason I think Minnesota upsets Dallas.

Doesnt matter now, everybody has an even shot. But whatever happens these playoffs-this reg season was a lesson in resiliency,& experience of deffending champs mattering. Alot of teams miss the playoffs entirely cuz of lesser injury issues. This reg season was absolute overachievment. I have em losing WCF rematch to Edmonton in 6. But as you laid out-you can never count this team out. They are mentally tough as hell,& will not fold. If somebody beats them 4 times, theyll have to earn it.

Wheras this same team 2-3 yrs ago was somewhat fragile at times. As great as they were, you knew they might kinda take themselves out mentally. But not anymore-those trials,& battles have steeled them,& made em as mentally tough as anybody. Theyve fought those wars,& learned those lessons. Win or lose, theyve earned our full trust-but I think Edmonton has learned SOME of those lessons also-thats why itd be a great rematch. But 1 game at a time-cant assume anything in nhl playoffs.

I agree big picture ther is ZERO pressure on Colorado, unlike last yr where opposite was true. But that doesnt start til round 2. It wouldnt be an atrocity to lose to Seattle, especially with the injuries,& you won it all last yr. It does give you some level of "house money" this yr. But I do think theres a lil pressure round 1-especially vs Seattle. Not many will pick the Avs to repeat, but even less will pick Seattle to upset us. Wouldnt be the same vs Minny. Avs would be favorites, but youd have far more people picking them than will pick Seattle.

  3. Am i missing something? Jesse said "if they used my tiebreak system, the Avs wouldve finished 2nd." Dude, they didnt end up tied-Avs had 1 more pt. Had they tied,Dallas had a big regulation win edge…unless im misunderstanding ya.
