McDavid boarding on Anderson – Have your say!

Connor McDavid got a boarding minor penalty for this hit on Michael Anderson. Was two enough? Too much? Tough Call will be reviewing the incident. Have your say!

  1. Definitely 2, maybe 5, but he seemed to ride him into the boards more than hit or push. Not clean, but in that 2 to 5 range.

  2. He hit him square up against the numbers. He could have layed back once he realized he would faceplant the guy.

  3. There was a time when you checked someone with your stick above your shoulder it was called high sticking resulting two minutes, The new rules that do not allow checking in youth hockey have hurt the game. The "pros" do not know how to shoulder check, hip check,or protect themselves from gettting hit. Now they skate head down knowing that it will be penalty if they get hit. I would rather watch replay of games from a bygone era, this era is upgraded version of playing on a pond.

  4. McDavid is Jesus in Canada, and the league needs Canadians watching hockey – short of pulling a gun on an opposing player, Mr. McDavid is gonna get the royal treatment – I feel sorry for him and y'all that have to live in a town on the arctic circle!

  5. Andersen turned his back to McDavid at the point of no return. McDavid was clearly going for the hit when they were still shoulder to shoulder. That's incidental boarding and a 2 minute minor as it should have been. Great call. I'm an NHL ref

  6. I am a total Oilers fan and even I can acknowledge that that was complete bullshit. What he did there, was not good and it was intentional

  7. So lizotte got suspended for his hit, but this isnt even a hearing…? This isn't even McDavid's first incident like this against the kings. But, the league wont make a move against mcjesus because hes the mesiah.

  8. 2 mins for the dive and 2 mins for McDavid boarding. Not a major because he didn't skate into the player but needs to be called because player is vulnerable, could still result in injury.

  9. Wasn’t Anderson who made a dirty play on Draisaitl during the 2022 playoff that cause him serious injury and 9 months of recovery?
Only difference was that McDavid didn’t intend to hurt. I was a pretty light hit. Glided in and used his outstretched arms. 2 mins was appropriate.

  10. I'm a total Oilers /Mcdavid fan(hope they win the next 3 cups)… however, that was definitely a penalty. I think he did it early in the game, that if the King's did score, it wouldn't be detrimental… he knew exactly what he was doing.

  11. Maybe Anderson shouldn’t keep his back tot he play right next to the boards for like 5 seconds. This is the nhl, you can’t do that shit and not get crushed.

  12. What the Oiler homers are missing is that the illegal hit caused an injury, yea easy call 5

  13. Anderson's numbers were a "clear and present danger" to McDavid. They should show kids that hit to illustrate checking from behind. With all the time in the world to not do it…

  14. Would have been better if a scum happened afterwards, then one of the Oilers put there leg behind Anderson and tripped him down backwards like he did to Draisait in last year's playoffs… which caused him to spend the rest of the NHL playoffs playing with one good leg. Remember that Mr. Anderson? I hope some bruises develop. As for McDavid getting the penalty… if only the refs decided to call penalties McDavid draw's 50 % of the time things would be great. I think he's lucky to draw 20 %.

  15. Sorry I don't feel sorry one little bit for Mikey Anderson & a lot of other of his LA teammates because that's what happens when you play the game like some of them do – dirty & with a edge especially Mikey Anderson. It's called reaping what you sow aka Karma. Play by edge die by it
    Deal with it LA.

  16. Hit wasn’t violent at all. McDavid kinda just rides Anderson into the boards. Absolutely a boarding penalty but calling for a misconduct seems wild

  17. To all the idiots here who state that he did not take strides into the hit. Learn the rules of the game. No call, or evidence for charging was made. It’s a boarding call and and egregious one that the refs missed as a major. If he at all tried to play the puck it would be a different outcome and maybe not even a penalty as Connor would have been more to the side and not straight on the numbers. The after game reviews by the league will deal with the appropriate penalty. I can’t imagine the outrage if the players were reversed and if they were then the call should be the same.

  18. Huge oilers fan here. The right call was made. Hit was straight to the numbers and into the boards. Last stride was a while ago and it was hands only no stick. Dangerous hit that needs to be called more. Feels like the refs arm should’ve been up a little sooner, when watching at live speed I felt the arm didn’t go up until Anderson had laid there for a second. Refs were not the best in this game, they let the players play, but that can lead to things getting out of hand. Little surprised the Kings didn’t respond more this shift or throughout the game.

  19. Anderson 'fucked' Draisaitl last year leaving him injured for the remaining play-offs, this hit was clean, straight + not extremely powerful, maybe 2min ok, but not a multigame suspension ☝️
