God, ESPN/ABC and TBS announcers are so crappy. I miss Doc Emerick. As a Jets fan, I love Bob Wischusen but I dont like listening to him call hockey.
So here’s what I do. I put on the live version, and then mute it….in the background I have the radio announcers. 10x better
This is no surprise. It’s on a Saturday.
That’s just ridiculous. How can they not have the first home playoff game on msg? This is crap.
Pro tip: put the game on radio for audio and abc for video
But fuck national commentators not named Kenny Albert
What’s the best way to listen to radio broadcasts? I’m in NC.
Could be worse. It could be on TNT.
The NHL continues failing to do anything right.
I am really looking forward to straining my one good ear to hear Emily Kaplin whisper 45 seconds of inane banter!
My personal opinion though is the period breaks of ESPN is far superior to the nonsense of TNT. Mess actually brings alot to hockey conversation and Chelly is kinda a neutral force. Just can’t understand them bringing in PKS halfway thru thecseason. He is a bit of a clown and I can see how he wore out his welcome in the Habs room. Adds zip to a knowledgeable hockey conversation. The play by play of course is just down-right insulting to anyone who actually knows something about the sport.
So yes, best thing to do to keep your sanity is what I do. Game live on my tv machine, but I plug in my earplugs, go to espn local feed and listen to Don Lagreca (buddy, cut back on your Starbucks intake on game days) over-modulate on just about every play. The feed is usually about 3-5 seconds off, you get used to it after a while. If you can’t hack that, there is always a great play by play man called Sean McDonough, I think he is a cousin of a former Ranger, so he’s a NYR homer for sure.
LGR!
