  1. The Montreal/Dallas trade is a 100% whatever nothing to see here trade , older player doing nothing for a younger player doing nothing lol but sure it makes sense, a playoff team gets an older player , a rebuilding team takes a flyer on a former 1st round pick

  2. I saw a tweet saying with no other rosster moves NYR would have the cap space at 25% starting Mar 1st. So I'd expect it doesn't happen until then

  3. That's 3 first rounders in 3 trades. Great way to retool while only trading away UFAs. Who knows they could come back and resign a few of them too.

  4. The Devils have all the leverage now. I don't think the Golden Knights really have much to offer the Sharks, a division rival. The Sharks are in a position where they need to take the best trade available, with or without Dawson Mercer.

  5. Gurianov will be a great player got all the tools. I think change of scenery and opportunity to play more will help him

  6. The Stars/Habs trade seems very much like a "You take our underperformer we'll take yours", tough to really call a winner or loser there as those two could both do well in a new environment, could both do poorly, or one could do well while the other might not. I always view those on potential FA's as a win-win because you are potentially gaining something for a player that didn't fit properly with your structure. If the player is someone you think works, you can work out a deal, and if not you didn't give up something that was of significant value to you.

The Vegas/Stlouis deal is also a fairly good win-win. Vegas gets a guy that was a puck winner for the blues and a possession 3rd/4th line guy during their cup run, and now he's the swing 2nd/3rd line type guy currently. They give up a guy that does have value, but at the same time isn't their top 2 or 3, and is more pulling from there depth (which was not a large group of skill guys, but enough to pull from).

There really aren't too many deals that are won or lost immediately, really just those where you give up a guy and a pick/prospect for salary dumping purposes. Vegas has taken a small L on Weber (although a 5th really isn't that terrible a price to pay, could argue even that wasn't that bad).

  7. The cat is amazing! Next time show full view of the cat in front of the camera!

  8. I liked Dennis but he has to compete harder on the boards and do more of the little things if he wants to be a good 5 on 5 player. However he has a good one timer on the power play and can produce there.

  9. Not surprised at all that Gurianov was traded. Just too inconsistent of a player. Dadonov looks to be just a rental as you have stated as a bottom six forward. I hope the Stars aren't done making moves though.

  10. Hopefully my stars can win a cup run this year (and which and I think they hopefully should )

  11. Guri is sneakly one of the fastest players, if he just played more angry/with a killer instinct he could be deadly. Too nice/forgiving on the ice. I like Guri in Dallas and was a good teammate but this was needed. Still waiting for the Kane to Stars trade lol

  12. Likely a trade or two that will matter to many fans will happen. NHL is slowly getting to be like the NBA where players are in charge of trades.

  13. Can Dadonov regain his form in Dallas? It seems like that would've been easier on a team with more offensive acumen. But, who knows.

  14. Traded: Tarasenko, Mikkola, O'Reilly, Acciari, Barbashev
    Acquired:
    – 1st in 2023
    – 1st in 2023 (conditional)
    – 2nd in 2024
    – 3rd in 2023
    – 4th in 2024 conditional)
    – Players: Zach Dean, Sammy Blais, Hunter Skinner, Mikhail Abramov and Adam Gaudette. Plus Kapanen. I saw this on Twitter.
Great job so far by Armstrong. If have these guys can play we will be ok.

  15. sometimes I wonder if Hockey Guy actually watches these players he comments on. Dadanov is disgustingly awful, zero hockey sense, always offside, awful plays in both zones and turnovers. He's slow, can't pass, can't handle a pass and the most pathetic player I've seen in Montreal in a decade.

  16. As a Blues fan, I'm a little frustrated/aggravated right now. I figured we would sellers at the trade deadline — to a point. I didn't know management had this team in for a nearly Chicago-style rebuild. I feel bad for the season ticket holders.

  17. I might be dumb, but for dummies like myself. Wasn’t Gurianov on the Habs roster before when drafted?

  18. Zach Dean will probably pan out, not likely as well as Suzuki did, but still well enough that we may regret this trade a bit, but Barbashev sounds like a perfect fit for this team. We desperately need his type of physicality on this team, we frequently get bullied out of games by bigger and tougher teams that we should have otherwise won

  19. Dadonov was great in Florida when Boughner was at the helm. Hopefully he can "resuscitate" his play in Dallas, rental or not.

  20. just getting something for dadonov was becoming a priority for montreal. half our UFA's are out for the season. only UFA left is Drouin and he's out the door too after this season so who know if montreal can get something out of him. maybe getting sergachev back would be a start HAHAHAHAAHA

  21. Stars getting Dadanov seems to be a really strange move to me. I guess they are kinda desperate. Knights hoping Barbashev can score 26 goals again I guess but not sure I could bet on that. They probably can't afford to pay him anyways heh. This is probably just a move to give them more time to free up cap space after making the Franchise sinking Jack Eichel trade losing Tuch a better cheaper player. I said he would even score more goals last year and this. Rangers keep losing players even though have like 4 goal lead or something on LA. Dallas I guess could use more depth scoring. I don't really see it panning out for them as Montreal manages to get a decent return on a player given to them for free basically. Kings scored a goal I think :)?

  22. Thank you for not using Washington as your example of a team swooping in, last-minute, and getting a better deal with a team.

  23. As a Habs fan, i would of been happy with Dado leaving for a few hockey sticks… so, this is a nice trade.

Also, this kind of moves that will attract fans to watch games for the rest of season. That 400k will be paid back.

Basically paying 400k for an audition. A nice gamble.

  24. Gurianov, may end up being better trade bait in the off season, dependent on whether or not he improves while playing for the habs, still it was a good deal, Dadonov really did not do well as a hab, not terrible, but nothing great either.

  25. I think Vegas made a mistake in acquiring Barbashev. No team from the west is going to match up against the East. My Kings, as weak as they are-are tied for 2nd in the Conference & Vegas is only 2 points ahead. That’s how weak the West is
