Stars vs Wild Playoff Preview

They haven’t met in awhile, but this should be a good rivalry series. I think it will be a close one.

  1. Fun division battle here. I think the injuries will hurt Minnesota. Dallas in 6.

  2. Seems everyone forgets what fluery does in the playoffs.
Almost every playoff he does something extremely stupid costing the team the game or
    series.

  3. It'll be curious to see how Johnston transitions to Playoff hockey and how quick. He could be a sleeper difference maker too

  4. I think Dallas pulls it out. They just have a few better player, like Roberson, that can turn on the heat when it needed. Plus, Roberson is the real deal. Love to watch him play, even though I'm an Avs fan. I used to hate the Stars, but you just can't hate Roberson. Wouldn't be surprised if it goes to 7 though.

  5. I think next year will be the Stars year to shine. Trying to knock out Min, Col and Vegas this year will be just too much.

  6. They will get over the hump and snap their 6 consecutive first round exit streak (2016, 2017, 2018, 2020, 2021, 2022).
    Minnesota Wild in 7.

  7. Stars in 7. I really have no idea for this one, but what I do know is it’s going to be an excellent series.

  8. Like the shout out to Bobby Smith, one of the North Star's all time best players. Logic says Dallas in 6, but hoping a win by the Wild instead. If EK is ready and healthy, it's a big boost for them. Think all games will be very close, more than one overtime, and more entertaining than a lot of people think it will be.

  9. This could be a close series especially if the Wild stay out of the box. If Minnesota does take penalties I think Dallas will make them pay. This will come down to how Dallas plays. If Otter looks anything like last year and Dallas has the depth scoring like we have seen lately it is their series to loose. Stars in 6.

  10. Mn boy here. Wild in 5. They are now capable of turning it on when needed, unlike the past.

  11. Minnesota easily becomes another team in playoffs, they can play really well in regular but, DAL in 6

  12. This has the potential to be a really fun series to watch – especially if the possibility of a goalie duel happens (which could very well happen). I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if more than one game goes to overtime in this series and at least one goes into multiple overtime periods.

I imagine Dallas is the slight favourite in this series, so if Minnesota wins, it'll be a very minor upset. However, I have to go with Dallas in SEVEN games due to the fact their offense averaged about one-half a goal more per game than the Wild.

  13. It’s going to be a rough series. More a question of who survives rather than wins. Avs are super happy they get 4 exhibition games. They sure didn’t want the Wild.

  14. While I appreciate the fact that one must be diplomatic in their home, I don't think we the audience should be getting excited to see your wife's collection of cute Minnesota apparel. Dallas in 5.

  15. tons of interest in this series around the water cooler at my work. we think this one will be a blood bath

  16. Pick: Dallas in 6
Reasoning: The Stars have the better goaltending and better depth scoring rn, but the reason I'm picking them is actually the Deboer X factor, He always seems to find ways to get the most out of his teams in the playoffs when he shouldn't and I think Dallas is primed for a run to get it's veterans a cup.

  17. Two very underrated teams. I’m hoping the wild move through and make some noise in the west

  18. Nice this may be the best series. It feels a bit like a pickum though I think Dallas is in the sweet spot where their younger players Heiskanen, Hintz, Oettinger, Robertson have matured their older cadre Benn, Pavelski and seguin haven't fallen off a cliff yet. They should win this one behind Oettinger and then maybe take a step back next year as a cohort of their older players age out.
I appreciate with how Guerin in minnesota grabbed the bull by the horns and tried to move forward after grasping the nettle with Suter and Parise. I wouldn't have been as aggressive but he was resetting culture among other things. I hope Minnesota wins this series. Im a huge Kaprizov fan. Their defense isn't what it should be for the money they spend on it and Ericksson Ek being out is a problem.
I would flip a coin but when pushed i pick Dallas.

Fleury is too mercurial. Start with Gustavsson. Always better to come back to your veteran and I have to say Gustavsson gives them the best chance to win.

  19. Th Hockey Guys jersey confuses me does that mean he think Minnesota is going to win or Dallas? Out of the playoffs match ups I think this one and Rangers/Devils are the ones that could go either way.

  20. I personally think the wild should start with Gus for the reason being, I would rather have fleury be the guy to come in if gus struggles rather than Gus coming in with no playoff experience being forced to save the series for fleury essentially

  21. Oettinger is a scary goalie in the playoffs. Despite losing to the Flames in 7 games last year he had a 954 save percentage and he stood on his head in elimination game 7 he made 64 saves keeping the game close. I think he will be the deciding factor, if he is good Dallas will win.

  22. Would like to see it go seven. The more games of attrition the better if it's not my team…
