If Don Maloney follows suit, as He Did in The Past (Coyotes, etc.), He's going to Make Trades/Rebuild.
Darryl Sutter is A Difficult Man & was Difficult since He was The Chicago Black Hawks' Head Coach.
Dorian hasn't done a fantastic job. Are you kidding me? He's done a horrible job.
He gave up far more than Duchene was ever worth and couldn't get him signed.
He gave up a greay young star in Zibanejad for an aging Brassard which was absolutely trash.
He lost the Mark Stone and Mike Hoffman trades horribly.
He got extremely lucky on the Erik Karlsson trade after initially getting fleeced in it.
He basically gave away a pick that would have secured us Matthew Savoie or Brad Lambert in 2022 for a guy who may pull a Duchene and not bother sticking around much longer.
Then he gave up a pick in the strongest draft since 03 that could easily cost us the chance to draft Matvie Mishkov who realistically could easily drop outside the Top 5 and right into Arizonas lap with our pick due to Russia Ukraine situation. He could have easily just given the 2024 and the 2025 1sts both unprotected instead and they would have been a far better trade for Chychrun for both teams at the time of the trade. Now it's hard to say who won or lost the deal until we see who the pick is used on?
Dorian just makes trades for the sake of making trades. He doesn't understand how to make the right trade for the right players.
Having Mark Stone back in the lineup has to be an emotional boost for the VGK—things didn't go according to plan for the Flames and now we'll see how they deal with the adversity. WOWsa!!! A new arena in ATL? Maybe 3rd times the charm for Hockey there, we'll see.
Fire Sutter, you get rid of Sutter, and also get rid of Martkstrom (which will be tough) and you solve the problem. This team with young talent can really make some waves.
Flames have to be out of their minds. They're going to keep Sutter?, even if it means losing Treliving? Sutter is the root cause of their problem. Maybe Maloney will do the right thing and cut Sutter loose after finishing exit interviews with the players. If they keep Sutter, forget about any playoffs next season. Team will slide down even further.
Vancouver has no cap space either
"It's technically not illegal." I think people's issue is that the appearance certainly is that when a player miraculously is healthy for the first game of playoffs, he probably wasn't still hurt at the end of the season. Thus they are circumventing the cap by claiming a player is hurt when he is not.
