Is the Oilers’ loss a blip or a concern? | The Talking Point

The Oilers had a commanding 3-1 lead midway through the third period of Game 1 against the Kings before things fell apart, and Los Angeles tied the game late before winning it in overtime. Should Edmonton be concerned about the loss, or is it just a blip? TSN Hockey’s Martin Biron has more.

  1. It’s fine. Defence was a little concerning but no one said it would be an easy series. Next game’s definitely a must win though.

  2. It’s a concern that once again the officials had their heads up their ass. In the third before giving Bouch his penalty they ignored La assaulting Drai. Then in overtime they ignore Foegle getting obviously tripped and call a marginal one on Desharneis. La became angels after the first period somehow….

  3. Edmonton may win this series anyway, but media needs to stop yapping about McDavid and how he can't be stopped

  4. This is a blip, they really were the better team and really should’ve won but it’s hard when you take 7 penalties especially one with 2 minutes left and one on OT

  5. It took the leafs 7 months to get a 5 on 3 this year. Edmonton gets one in the first 10 min of the playoffs. Fuck the refs

  6. The team that actually has heart & cares about winning beat the team that only cares about padding their stats. What a surprise.

  7. Why in the world are u making a video about a game 1 loss, I’ll never understand why people blow game 1 results out of proportion good or bad 😂

  8. Not alarming. Just play exactly the same game, take less than 7 penalties, and it's an easy win.

  9. Here’s an idea or a scenario…give the Oilers 6 power plays and one in OT and see if the scenario is reversed. Just saying

  10. Oilers have never won the first game in the salary cap era, and look how they responded to it last year, I'm not worried or concerned yet tbh.

  11. We've been warning yall, it's not worth ignoring but one game is still only one game. See if they step it up next game but hopefully their fans get the karma they deserve and drop another at home. Couldn't even finish their beers before throwing on the ice, boys can't hang

  12. We really don't know until Game 2. The Oilers were easily the better team, but also drew lots of dumb penalties and were nonchalant going into the 3rd period when it should've been a sealed deal. These things absolutely need to be addressed if they don't want a repeat of things tomorrow. But, if they can address their discipline issues they're still the favorite to win this series and the next one imo.
