Recruits Chief Scout Grant McKegg with a refreshing take on the 2023 NHL Draft. A professional scout with NHL connections talks about Daniil But, David Reinbacher, Dalibor Dvorsky and more.
Their 2nd episode is also interesting and they give some insight into the ongoing situation in Russia.

I mostly posted this to give a different perspective, it seems to be a bit of a hive mind around here, people are set on taking one of Benson, Smith, Moore etc. McKegg talks about how we have a lot of undersized forwards, he think another big winger is needed in our top 6 or a RH defenseman.
It’s Grant McCagg, btw
People should listen to the 2nd episode if they think we might get Michkov. He will fall, the only question is where.
Interesting perspective on But. Obviously McCagg is insane for suggesting we take him over Michkov, but this is a VERY deep top 20-25.
That 17th overall pick (assuming Boston wins of course) should be have some nice choices available
one of the worst hockey scout in the world, worst thing is he still has connections with the actual Habs scouting group and communicates regularly with them
Grant has some takes for sure – but he is definitely connected…
he was banging the Habs are going to pick KK and Slaf long before most.
Always good to have a different POV, especially one that’s closer to the general NHL mindset, like size *still* being a bigger factor for execs than fans like to admit.
The U18 that starts next Thursday, that will have a big say in some of those guy’s stock.
Grants always good for a laugh. Probably the worst “scout” on earth.
Word out on the street from Grant is no russians are not going to be allowed to leave russia – ever. He might be right.
Michakov is worthless as a pick now. Maybe a 4th round flyer
Matthew Wood or Danil But 5th overall baby
