  1. Yeeaaahh the avs gave the kraken that win for free. Mistake after free given goal after mistake all night long. They were not playing like a defending champion team

  2. I think the Avs wanted to keep Grubaurer, but just like Kuemper, he left for more money. If he plays like he did last night, maybe he's worth the 5.9M cap hit.

  3. Last night’s game was a perfect storm for the Kraken. Quite a few posts for the Avs, Grub was on his game, and Georgie made an uncharacteristic mistake leading to the first goal, then was a little shaky for a bit.

Game 1 is definitely no determination of a series. We’ll see how the Kraken fare in a series stretch against the Avs.

They did play well tonight though. Was a nice way to start the series. Just don’t see all those factors hitting in the same game consistently for the Kraken.

Also, I’d still take Georgie over Grub 100%. Georgie is already solid and is going to be amazing in the future.

  4. The high press by Seattle befuddled the Avs. That’s a coaching slip up for the Avs as they should have been better prepped how to handle that. Can they respond will be the next question. Takes a lot of work on Seattle’s part but four lines helps with that.

  5. @thehockeyguy "Chip on his shoulder"?!!!!!!!! FOR WHAT?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HE LEFT US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! we extended a contract and he got a better one from Seattle. enough!!!!!! Gru left Colorado, and frakly good ridence! He screwed us over game 3 in vegas and chocked away the game and series in 45 seconds! STOP making it out like the Avs didn't plan to have him back. We also won the cup right after so forget gru

  6. Avalanche didn't give proper respect to Seattle last night at all. Like half of our sweeps lately come against Mike Smith or Nashville. It's not a fluke Seattle is playing for a cup.

  7. ouch, that one hurt. Avs need to get their shit together. PK was good though.

And credit to Seattle where it's due, they played a solid and complete game and were good at turning the Avs mistakes into chances and then converting on those chances.

  8. So after every Game 1 is complete, the home teams went 2-6. It's really starting to seem like home ice matters less and less as time goes on.

  9. I'm a Kings fan, which means that in 2018 I watched them underestimate the first time playoff bound Vegas Golden Knights. They got swept 4-0, the Avs need to be careful and focus up in a hurry, this isn't a series that will "take care of itself", they gotta earn it.

  10. One thing not talked about was the crowd, Avs fans were loud!! As in really, really loud at times drowning out the commentators. Seeing Kraken win through that was incredible.

    Go Kraken!

  11. Grub with a statement game against his old team. Win or lose the Kraken are proving they can hang with anyone in the league.

  12. So people are forgetting that colorado protected Grubauer from the expansion draft. He left in free agency for more money. He signed with Seattle for that money and look at the season he had last year and this year. Not great. I think we need to lose the narrative that he's got a chip on his shoulder. Yeah he's playing his former team so there's some extra motivation but he wasn't "done dirty" or anything by Colorado. I wish they could've kept him over Kuemper for last year. Anyway, high hopes for the rest of the series. It'll be competitive and the Avs got the wakeup call they need if they want to hang around.

  13. I think this came down to the goalies. My confidence in Georgiev hasn't been solid this year, he's not quite as good a Kuemper, Kuemper had his moments where he looked shaky and wasn't consistent but he is big and when he was in the zone he was really good. I don't see that in Georgiev, going down early, staying in the butterfly, he had two goals fly over his left shoulder when he needed to be tall in net and he was caught sitting.
Skaters also seemed to be off, shots not hitting the net, passes intercepted. I foresee a lot of video reviewing and a strategy change.

  14. From an Avs fan, congrats Seattle on your first playoff win. I wasn't even upset, just impressed. But I'm also wondering where this version of Grubauer was in 2021 when he choked against Vegas. If the Avs can't figure him out soon, it's gonna be over in 5 or 6 games.

  15. So this "Ref you suck!" thing.
There being two referees it's generic, right?
So, not personal at all. Not specific.
Good, Mom wouldn't like it being specific.

  16. That’s Kraken hockey baby. Let’s go Kraken. This young franchise could teach the Maple Leafs a thing or two about how to play playoff hockey.
