mike is an amazing guy. the amount of times i see posts on here about him doing things for the community are astonishing.

Some players don’t want to play for a market like Montreal.

Some players really really want to.

I don’t know which group is more prevalent. I don’t really care either – it’s out of the franchise control.

What IS in the franchise control, is our ability to bring here the players who want to be here.

Hughes knew very very well what he was doing when he traded for Matheson. The fact that he used to be his agent sure helped…

Seems like Matheson really liked Montreal while growing up there. I bet there’s also a strong nostalgia factor for him when he participates in these local events.

Meh, we said the same thing about toffoli and subban before him.

The game is still a business and management will view players as assets or liabilities and move them if they deem it profitable.

Good to see himself being part of the community, though

It’s obviously easy for me to say, because I have the athletic ability of a 90 year old, but if I was a professional and had the chance to play here, I would jump at it.

Yeah, I’d be constantly in the public eye, the press would be on my ass for every mistake and I’d have to deal with all that. But we remember the players that gave there all here. They have a place in our hearts forever.

Halak never won anything here, but we will always love and remember him for those magic 2010 playoff games. Chris Nilan will never have to pay for a drink or meal in Montreal. Saku Koivu is absolutely beloved and would be mayor if he ran.

Being a part of that would be just absolutely amazing.

Love Matheson but Tony Marinaro is the embodiment of a Bocci Sub

There’s such a funny vibe about Matheson. He’s only 29 but has such a grandpa air about him. I bet he loves Werthers.

Kent Hughes wasn’t kidding when he said that Mike Matheson is an absolute gem of a human being.

What you don’t see in the picture is Pierre Luc Dubois is just out of frame receiving the pass
